Student Medication Pick-Up

As we come to the end of the year, please ensure that medications in the Health Room are picked up (they cannot be sent home with students unless the student is approved for self-carry). All medications need to be picked up by a parent/guardian on or before Tuesday, June 20th, 2023. We cannot keep any medications over the summer. Any medications not picked up will be disposed of. If your student has a life-threatening allergy or illness, please make arrangements with nurse Trina to pick up on the last day of school that your student will attend. For questions, please reach out at troufs@nsd.org or 425-408-5706.

IN THE KNOW!

Field Day 2023 is approaching! This is such a fun way for our students to end their school year and celebrate all their hard work in school this year.

Our PE team is looking for parent volunteers to help manage our activities during Field Day 2023! Canyon Creek staff will be managing many aspects of Field Day, but we need parent volunteers as well!

There will be one Field Day for our Intermediate grades (3-5) in the morning (9:30-10:45) and one Field Day for our Primary grade levels (K-2) in the afternoon (2:00-3:15). We are looking for volunteers willing to help at either one, or even both. The more volunteers we have, the more activities we can have for our students! Parents will be asked to lend up to 2 hours of their time per Field Day. Field Day will be held during the last week of school on Friday, June 16th. Per district guidelines, all volunteers must have cleared a background check. Please go to nsd.org to get your volunteer badge, it can take up to 2 weeks to receive clearance.

If you are interested in volunteering at Field Day 2023, please click the link below and fill out the google form attached. Thank you for considering, we hope to see you at Field Day!

Please return all NSD Hotspot Devices by June 20th

The NSD Hotspot Program is ending. However we understand there is still a need for online connection so we are going to utilize the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). This allows families who qualify to get internet access for a reduced price or free.

Households are eligible to participate in the ACP if any of the following applies:

  • A child participates in the Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch or Breakfast program, including at Community Eligibility Provision schools
  • The household’s income is 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or less (currently $60,000 for a family of four)
  • A member of the household participates in certain other federal programs, like Medicaid or SNAP; OR
  • The household meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income plan.

Attendance

Attendance Line + Email

When your child will be absent or tardy, please email ccattendance@nsd.org and CC your student’s teacher OR leave a message on our 24-hour phone line at 425-408-5710 by 9:50am. If the absence is reported after 9:50am, you may receive an automated call.

If you are concerned that your student's absences have not been updated, please email ccattendance@nsd.org requesting confirmation.

Student Drop-Off

Students should be dropped off no earlier than 9:00am when campus supervision begins and picked up no later than 3:45pm at the end of the day.

Early Pick-Up

If your child will be leaving early for the day, families/guardians will need to send a note, email both the teacher and ccattendance@nsd.org, or call the office on the main line at 425-408-5700. Please do not leave a message on the attendance line. Please avoid picking up during their scheduled lunch, recess or specialist time. It can be especially difficult to find students on the playground and in the cafeteria.

Only an authorized person may take a child from school. Any student being dismissed prior to the regular dismissal time must be met in the office, where the student must be signed out by the parent/guardian or authorized person. Families are not permitted to walk directly to classrooms.

Change in After School Plan

If there is a change in your child’s after school plan or how they will be getting home, parents/guardians must send a note or email your student’s teacher and ccattendance@nsd.org before school starts. If a change is needed after the start of school, please call our main office line at 425-408-5700 to ensure that we get the message to your student and their teacher in time for dismissal. Please do not leave a message on the attendance line.

Pre-Arranged Absences

In the event that your child will miss more than two consecutive school days for a reason other than health or medical issues, complete and submit the Pre-Approved Absence Request Google Form at least one week before the first planned day of absence. Access the form here!

We are no longer accepting paper forms for pre-arranged absences. If you have already filled out a paper form for an absence occurring this school year, no action is required. This only applies if you have yet to start the process for a pre-arranged absence.

Online Enrollment: 2023-24 School Year

Online enrollment is available for families who are enrolling students for the 2023-24 school year, as well as those enrolling a student for kindergarten. Enrolling your student early in the year helps us plan for incoming students and ensure that we meet our staffing needs. Will your student start September 2023?

1. Scan/photograph required documents and immunization records.

Kindergarten Enrollment 2023-24

Is your student starting kindergarten this fall?

To enter kindergarten, your student must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2023. Kindergarten enrollment for the 23-24 school year is now open. Not sure which school your student will attend? Enter your address in our school finder.

Before school begins, kindergarten teachers will meet with families to get to know the students, their families, and their stories. Additionally, teachers evaluate students in many areas to determine students' strengths. This helps teachers plan a program based on the needs of the children. Stay tuned for more information!

Highly Capable Process for Kindergarten

The kindergarten eligibility process incorporates two different screening tools. Parents and teachers do not nominate or register students. All kindergarten students will be automatically screened for potential highly capable eligibility. Visit the Highly Capable Services page for more information.
