FHS Updates

Greetings Franklin High School students, families and community

We are excited to welcome you back to school!

We would like to highlight the following: During a typical summer, you would have been welcome to enter the building, walk your schedule and check out your locker any time during regular office hours in August. This summer, we have been unable to be open in this manner. Our orientation days are being built with the understanding that students new (and returning) to FHS will need to orient themselves to our school.

All of our students and staff will be learning new routines as they attend FHS. All of us are excited to reopen our doors. We all must act responsibly and meet the expectations and requirements for our return.

Every day is an opportunity to reach out, make a connection, and have a conversation. Our goal as a learning community is to provide an open door for all students to explore their passions and interests, as well as develop a plan for their future. We will develop strong relationships with our students, their families, and the community. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you need anything.

During the school year we will send a Weekly Bulletin. The FHS Weekly Bulletin is a regular communication forwarded to you to provide information about news and upcoming events. Please plan to take some time each week to view the articles in the bulletin which may answer many of your questions. Watch your bulletin next week for more information on the first week of school.

As always, please contact the office (414-423-4640, press 0) for questions, email an administrator or your student's school counselor anytime you have questions or need assistance.

We hope your summer is reenergizing and rewarding. Maximize every moment.

Go Sabers!

Paying fees using eFunds

Through your PowerSchool Parent Access you are able to pay fees through eFunds. Currently eFunds is fixing a communication problem with PowerSchool and any fees paid are posting very slowly (the paid fee is in the system even if you can't see it). If your payment is not showing when you view your account, please know it has processed and check back at a later date to see it posted. Thanks for your patience.

Student Parking

Does your student plan to park at FHS this semester? Due to the unusual circumstances this year, students can park in designated student parking areas the first two weeks of school without a parking tag. Your student will have until September 14th to purchase parking and must display their tag.

How does a student obtain a parking tag? Students can pick up the tag in the office ONLY on the day assigned for classes (a reminder that each student is only here one day the first week of school). The office is available for parking information/tags either before or after school when the student is present in the building for classes and when the following is complete:

1) Read the information regarding parking rules posted on our website – click here

2) Have completed a parking application

  • If the parking application information was done during Back to School Online Check In, this step is complete
  • If not completed in Back to School Check In, print the Parking Application from our website and bring it at the time assigned. All parking information must be complete to receive a parking tag.

3) Pay for parking –cost is $100 per semester (pay for one or both)

  • Pay online using parent access (preferred method) using Parent PowerSchool access
  • Pay with cash or check made out to FHS at time of tag pick up

4) No outstanding fees

5) Back to School Online Check In must be complete

6) At time of tag pick up show valid Driver License

7) At time of tag pick up show current liability insurance on vehicle registered to park at school (per Board policy) – please check that this document has current dates

Completion of all of the above will result in the student receiving a parking tag that allows parking on Franklin High School property. A reminder that parking is a privilege and can be revoked without refund (as posted on website and in complete information accessed through the website). On September 14th (and after), if your student does not have a valid 2020/2021 FHS parking tag their vehicle should not be on the property during school hours. Students may only park in areas designated for student parking or risk suspension of their tag.

2020-2021 Student Schedule & Change Request Info

Student Schedules will be available in PowerSchool later this week. If you were able to view a schedule prior to receiving your schedule this week, it was not a final schedule. Please do not call for a schedule change, there will be no opportunity to change schedules.

FHS Links & Tips

Do you often have questions? What time do classes start and end? Who is your student's school counselor? How can I put money in the lunch account?

Check out FHS Information Links & Tips document which offers some quick links to navigating the Franklin High School website and finding those answers. You will find the FHS Bell Schedule and much more. View this document and check out some of the handy links.

2020-2021 School Supply List

As stores have those big sales and you think about school supplies, our website has a link to our school supply information. You can easily find it again on the FHS website>Student Information>School Supply Lists. Note that this page on the website lists general supply information but has a link to a document listing more specific information for specific courses. Once you receive a final class schedule in late August, check the courses listed against the FHS School Supply List while teachers may give more specific information on the first day of class.

Fall Sports update

Some of our fall sports are in full swing (Girls Swim & Dive, Boys & Girls Cross Country, Girls Golf, and Girls Tennis).

Just a reminder the following sports start the week of September 7th:

Boys Soccer

Boys Volleyball

Girls Volleyball

If you have not already done so please be sure to Register for 2020 High School Fall Sports Here. Students registering for Athletics must have a current physical examination on file in the Athletics office before the student is authorized to participate in practice/tryouts. To ensure clearance for participation, physicals should be completed and submitted during online registration prior to the first day of practice/tryouts.

Summer Homework

Please note that many AP and honors classes have summer homework requirements that must be completed prior to the start of the school year.

Students enrolled in any honors or AP course for the 2020-21 school year should check this website/document for summer work requirements. It's not too late to be ready for the start of the Advanced Placement classes!

School Pictures & ID's

Our normal summer school picture session was cancelled but we have a need to get student IDs to our students. At this time we have a session scheduled for students new to the District (never attended a Franklin school last year) on Friday, August 28th from 3pm to 5pm. All other students will have a school ID created with their school picture from last year and we plan to distribute those the second week of school

We will plan on yearbook/school photos sometime later in the year for all of our returning students.

2020 Fall Play - Tinkerbell

Fall Play auditions are right around the corner beginning the week of September 14th. Please review all of this information including general and audition information - it should be a fun way to start the year.

Wisconsin Education Fair (WEF)

Franklin High School has been a WEF site for many years but unfortunately all fairs in the state have been cancelled for the 2020/2021 school year. WEF is hosting monthly virtual fairs which will include college information, virtual college visit info and interactive financial aid sessions. Check out the information for virtual WEFs and registration. Note that at this time you can register for the fair(s) but cannot log into each fair until the event.

In addition watch for information in future bulletins about NACAC Virtual College Fairs which are free national college fairs.

Please be sure to read the newest District Newsletter that comes out now every Friday. You can access all the issues here.
