Celebrate!
Jenison High School Families,
May is a time for celebration! The spotlight is on the Class of 2023 as we honor them during our Honors Night and Commencement ceremonies. If you have a senior this year, please remind them of our Senior Checkout Form which must be submitted to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Checkout forms will be delivered via Advisory on Wednesday, May 3, and can be turned in starting on May 8. Copies are also available in the Main Office. One aspect of the checkout form is Chromebook turn-in, so seniors should not turn in their checkout form until they are certain that they will not need their Chromebook for their exams.
Advanced Placement exams also begin this week. Good luck to all of our testers. We are so proud of our AP programs which result in numerous college credits earned and thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Be sure to review the "Upcoming Events" and "Technology Updates" sections below so that you are informed of important dates and policy changes.

Juniors
For our college-bound juniors, the spring and summer are great opportunities to visit campuses and to decide which schools to apply to in August when applications open. The JHS counselors will be sending a video with more information about the college application process to juniors and their parents soon. If you have questions, please reach out to your student's counselor.
Seniors
If you are college-bound, you will need to send your final transcript to the school you will attend next year. If you applied via Common App, your counselor will send the transcript. If you did not use Common App, seniors will need to request their final transcript through Parchment. Step-by-step instructions can be found here.
Technology Updates
Students not returning to JPS next school year, including current 12th-graders:
If your student is not returning to JPS next school year, they must return their Chromebook, charger, and carrying case to the Media Center on their last day of school. If we do not receive their device and accessories, we will begin the process of repossessing these items. For those graduating, diplomas will not be released until your student’s device is returned. Devices returned with damages will be repaired and you will be invoiced for the cost of the repair if technology insurance was not purchased.
Current 9th - 11th graders:
Students will be keeping their Chromebook, charger, and carrying case at home with them over the summer. You should be aware these devices will be locked (unable to be used) until after August 15, 2023. If they are taking a summer enrichment program (such as summer school) and will need to utilize their device for school work, please submit a Helpspot ticket - include their name, the program they are going to be a part of, and the dates they will need the device to be unlocked.
If their device is in need of repairs, please have them return their device and accessories to the Media Center on the last day of school so that their device is repaired over the summer and ready for pick up at orientation. You will be invoiced for repair costs if technology insurance was not purchased.
Students keeping their devices over the summer must review the device care instructions below:
Store your device in a clean and protected environment.
Do NOT store the technology in a dusty or dirty environment.
Do NOT store the technology in an area exposed to extreme temperatures, hot or cold.
Do NOT leave the technology exposed to direct sunlight or near any heat or moisture sources for extended periods of time.
Prior to the first day of school, please charge your device fully, log into your device, and keep your device online and connected to wifi for at least 24 hours to ensure your device is fully updated.
Student ID/Keycards -
Students must hold onto their keycard/ID that they were issued this school year because they will need this for the remainder of high school. Keycards are necessary for access to the Senior High building. If your student has misplaced or has a damaged keycard/ID then there will be a $10 replacement fee for a new keycard/ID. We highly encourage all of our students to wear their keycard/ID during the school day. More information will be sent out in the August Welcome Back to School Newsletter.
