Central Elementary News
Back to School 2016
Welcome Back!
It has been an exciting summer at Central Elementary! Preparations are underway to make 2016-2017 the best school year yet! We can't wait for our Pirates to return and to get this school year off to a great start.
There have been several exciting changes here at Central this summer. Our beautiful addition is complete and ready for our 4th and 5th grade students. This new project added 16 additional classrooms and a new gymnasium to our campus. Take a look at some photographs of these spaces below. We are also working to bring this feel into our original building. We look forward to adding new technologies, flexible seating, and collaborative learning spaces throughout the campus.
We have also added a new program for our Specials rotation. Born from the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) movement, we are proud to announce the development of MakerSpace. This new class will allow all students (PK-5th grade) opportunities to experiment with new technologies, problem-solve to overcome challenges, and work collaboratively with their peers. Our teachers had an opportunity to experience MakerSpace last week and they loved it! We can't wait for our Pirates to put on their thinking hats and get busy changing the world!
There are lots of new faces at Central Elementary! One important addition is our new Assistant Principal, Colter Cox. I am incredibly excited for you to meet him and have an opportunity to hear about his philosophy of education. I can't say enough about his immense love for Central Elementary and his excitement for the upcoming year. There is a special note from Mr. Cox below; make sure you take a minute to read it and find out more about him.
We have been very fortunate to have added incredible new staff members to our Central family in order to accommodate our growing student population. There are a few first-year teachers who are brimming with excitement to meet their very first class and several veteran teachers who have longed to join the Pirate Crew! You will find that every new addition to our campus comes with a true passion for relationships. They are ready to begin connecting with our students and parents and can't wait to be part of the LCP family!
This year, we have encouraged our staff to think that "the sky is the limit" to what we can achieve. We truly believe that we are blessed with the very best students, parents, and staff members! It is our honor to support this campus and our privilege to see all that our campus accomplishes!
Passion. Purpose. Pirates.
