Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Mesnier Primary School! As you know, based on the health and safety of students and staff, the Affton Board of Education made the decision to begin the 2020-2021 school year in 100% Distance Learning. For those families who selected the In-Person Learning option, distance learning will be in place until the end of the first quarter. Health conditions will be reevaluated prior to the end of 1st quarter on October 23rd in the hopes that a Fixed Blended schedule will be possible.
We have made some adjustments to student class placements for the school year in order to best meet the needs of all students and families. This information is included in a back to school letter that should be received by all families by early next week.
Many things will be different this year, but our commitment to building relationships in order to support student academic and social emotional learning remains a top priority for the Mesnier staff. We look forward to partnering with you in order to fulfill our mission of All Belong, All Learn, All Lead To Succeed. If you have questions or concerns at any time during the year, please reach out for support . We are looking forward to working together to ensure student success.
We would like to invite you to attend our Lift off to Virtual Learning Supply Pick Up Night on August 18th, 19th and 20th from 6:00-7:00 pm. This will be an opportunity for you to pick up distance learning supplies that your child will need for the first quarter. This will include a chromebook that will be used for online learning. You will also be able to wave to your child’s classroom teacher. We will also supply pick up available on Friday, August 21st from 10 am- 12 pm.

Virtual Learning Information
The virtual learning schedule for kindergarten through second grade will include both synchronous, live Google Meet lessons, and asynchronous, video recorded or independent learning tasks. Students are encouraged to participate in the daily Google Meet class meetings. This will be a time to interact with both their classmates and teacher. The focus of these meetings will often be on building relationships and connecting with other students.
Students can access the mini-lessons and learning activities for all subject areas and specials through Canvas. In addition, the teacher will be scheduling small group and individual conferences with students to provide instruction in reading, writing and math.
Teachers will provide additional information in a back to school email that will be sent to all families prior to the first day.
