Newsletter 3 - 20 February 2019
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
As mentioned at our recent Parent Information Evenings, we are seeking your feedback on how we structure parent information meetings in the future. This should take less than a minute and we ask that you CLICK HERE to share your thoughts. Many thanks for taking the time to do this.
A link in the sections below, has been provided for those families who missed the meetings or would like to revisit the presentation to view information on:
· The Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum: Kindergarten -Yr 6
· Proposed Building Program 2019
· Nature Playground Plans 2019
Nature Based Playground Development: Stage 1
As you may have already noticed, Nature Play Australia have commenced their preliminary works on the far side of the school oval in preparation for the construction of a Climbing Frame, Goliath Swing and Mud Kitchen, to be completed in 4-6 weeks.
Over the past two years, $40,000 has been raised through the Parents & Friends Association to enable works to commence. I thank everyone in our community for supporting the P&F Executive in raising this money. The cost of this project however is $82,000 (ex GST), which means that school fundraising by the P&F for 2019 will go toward payment of this project. I encourage everyone to get behind the P&F so that we can create some fabulous play spaces for our children.
After seeking advice from the students, we are already planning for Stage 2, which will include platforms around some large trees with a connecting bridge. Another exciting prospect for us to look forward to in the future!
If you would like to hear more about the happenings and plans of the P&F, there is a meeting tonight at 7.30pm in the staffroom. I know you would be made very welcome so please come along.
Don’t forget the Parent Sundowner on Wednesday 27 February at 7.00pm in the School Quad. We look forward to seeing you there.
Kindest regards
Tamara McGougan

Clean Up Australia Day
On Friday March 1st the school will be participating in a clean up of our school and the local surrounding area. All classes will be participating in the clean-up. Students are welcome to bring their own gardening or rubber gloves to wear for the clean-up. Please ensure the gloves are clearly labelled with the name of your child. The school will provide biodegradable gloves for all students who do not have their own gloves.
As a way to encourage waste reduction we are also promoting a waste free lunch box day on this same day. A waste free lunch box means there is no throw away trash when you are done. Compostable waste like apple cores and banana peels are fine. We are encouraging no throw away single use bags, wraps, cartons or cutlery. Please instead choose reusable containers to store lunch items in on Clean Up Australia day. Through this waste free day we hope to promote awareness of reducing waste as a community and from home.
