Hilton Weekly Newsletter
Friday, November 20th, 2020
The warm weather was great, but it seems to have left us. Please remember to have your children dress for the weather. Fresh air is good for kids and we will continue to get outside for recess and mask breaks to keep kids in a positive frame of mind.
Drop-Off Reminder - The Hilton supervision staff does not report until 8:35 am. Student safety is my number one priority, and I need your support to keep our kids safe. If you arrive early, please wait to have your kids unload. You can line-up in the drop-off area and wait if you prefer, but it is important to wait until 8:35.
Dr. Outlaw Meet and Greet - Join us for a Q and A with our new leader, Brighton Area Schools superintendent Dr. Matt Outlaw. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 18th from 6 pm - 7:30 pm. Here is the Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/2389380127 . I'll be sending this out a number of times, so it will be easy to find.
Your kids are amazing and doing a great job with all the adversity we've encountered this year. From the JK students to 4th grade, they have stepped up to the plate!
Please continue to be safe and help us keep Hilton open for face to face instruction.
Have a great weekend!

Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. Fox! With October being Anti-Bullying Awareness Month, we spoke with students about how to use our voice. We talked about how to support one another, how to stand up respectfully, and most importantly, how to do it in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable. Our theme of “Do Something” is carrying into our months of November and December: GENEROSITY AND ACTS OF KINDNESS. If we can create a culture of kindness in our classrooms, our little learners are more likely to take risks, celebrate their individuality, and grow as people. To deepen this learning, create opportunities at home for spreading kindness and being generous. We know that in order to create a habit, we must create opportunities for repetition.
Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed at school.
More Resources: We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!

POLICY CHANGES - PLEASE READ
For the 20/21 school year, Hilton has some new policy changes due to COVID:
EXTRA CHANGE OF CLOTHING
With the current COVID restrictions, we are not able to offer a change of clothes if your child has an accident, or stumbles in a mud puddle, or gets a nose bleed, or has a mishap in the cafeteria...therefore, it would be helpful if you kept a change of clothing in your student's backpack. If your student does not have spare clothes, we will be calling home to have you bring a change of clothing. Thanks for your assistance with this.
OUTSIDE LUNCHES FOR STUDENTS
Due to COVID, we are unable to accept fast food lunches/restaurant lunches to be dropped off for students.
Calling the Attendance Line to Report an Absence
We know that some parents notify the teacher but we also need you to call the attendance line.
