13th Sunday of Ordinary Time
26 June 2022
Readings for today
1st Reading: Kings 19:16, 19-21
2nd Reading: St Paul to the Galatians 5:1, 13-18
Gospel: Luke 9:51-62
Welcome to the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary & St Matthew
Jesus calls us to love him no matter what the circumstances of our life may be.
This Sunday’s readings give us some important clues on how to balance the practice of our faith with the demands of life in the 21st century.
Glorious Saint Joseph,
Model of all those devoted to labor,
Obtain for me the grace to work in a spirit of penance
For the expiation of my many sins,
To work conscientiously,
Putting the call of duty above my inclinations,
To work with gratitude and joy,
Considering it an honor to employ and develop,
By means of labor, the gifts received from God,
To work with order, peace, moderation, and patience,
Without ever recoiling before weariness or difficulties,
To work, above all, with purity of intention,
And with detachment from self,
Having always death before my eyes
And the account which I must render of time lost,
Of talents wasted, of good omitted
Of vain complacency in success,
So fatal to the work of God.
All for Jesus, all for Mary, all after your example,
O Patriarch Joseph.
Such shall be my watchword in life and in death.
Amen

We pray for the Ukraine...
Holy and Gracious God
We pray for the people of the Ukraine, for their country and their leader.
We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear.
We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness.
We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace.
We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they are inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ.
Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace in Ukraine.
And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son.
Lord have mercy.
Amen
