Week of August 23 - August 27

Thank you for attending Back to School Night

Thank you for attending OUR GRAY HAWK Back to School Night last Tuesday. It was wonderful to see so many parents that could take part in this special night of connection with our classroom teachers and specialists.

At Back to School Night, teachers had a directory list laid out. PTO would like to put a student directory together but need your permission to do so. If you did not sign up with your information at Back to School Night please contact your classroom teacher immediately and give them the following information:

Student Name:

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) Name:

Address

Phone Number

Email Address

If you would like to be in the directory but do not want to provide some of the information, that is okay. Please just provide what you feel comfortable sharing. Thank you!

Looking Ahead

September 6 - Labor Day NO SCHOOL District Offices are closed

September 7 - NO SCHOOL - Teacher Professional Development and Collaboration

Fall MAP Testing is Complete

OUR GRAY HAWK students completed MAP testing this past week and we are so proud of them for persevering and doing their personal best. Teachers will be examining the data that they have collected and beginning to make some decisions on how best to meet the individual needs of our students moving forward.

GENTLY USED CLOTHES & NEW UNDERWEAR REQUESTED

If you have gently used clothing that you would be willing to donate to Nurse MJ for our students it would be much appreciated. We are looking for shorts, pants, t-shirts, and socks that we could give to children that may have an accident or spill on their clothes throughout the day.

We would also appreciate any donations of NEW underwear in sizes 4-6, 6-8, and 8-10 for girls AND boys. Thank you for your consideration.

Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services (BLAS)

The Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services (BLAS) Food for Kids BackPack Program provides a

weekly bag filled with food for elementary aged school children that are in need and who attend

Gray Hawk. BLAS delivers the bags to your child’s school each week. This program is funded solely thru donations and the number of participants is limited based on the donations received. There are no costs to participate in the program for the child, parent/guardian or school. The food is placed in bags in your child’s backpack on Friday afternoon for them to bring home. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact OUR GRAY HAWK counselor, Miss Hubbard at mhubbard@usd458.org by September 2, 2021.

BLAS also provides other resources to those in need in our community - including a food pantry and emergency utility assistance. Please see more information below.

FREE MEALS AT GRAY HAWK

This is just a reminder that breakfast and lunch will be free to our students in USD 458 for the 2021/2022 school year. Students would only be charged for additional milks. Extra milk is 50 cents per carton.

Breakfast is "Grab and Go" from our lobby. If students choose to get breakfast, they will come to the lobby when the doors open at 8:35 and pick up their breakfast to take it back to the classroom.

Changes to the Lunch Menu

Due to shortages of products, beginning on Monday, August 23, 2021 Angie (OUR GHES kitchen manager) has said that the students will have two choices for lunch - a hot choice and a cold choice. Please be aware of this change. You can check out the menu here.
