Mrs. Becker's Weekly Update!
3/4-3/8
🌷 What we are learning this week: 🌷
Reading:
We have finished our book study entitled- "The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963"
Students explored some of our history during this time, engaged in discussions about events that took place, expanded their vocabulary, and checked for our comprehension knowledge about what we had read. (Read Aloud options are available on Google Classroom)
This week we will get to have our popcorn & movie party to watch the movie version of "The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1936."
I sent home movie permission slips last week. Please return them or message me if you would prefer your student to not participate in watching this movie with our class. This slip is featured in the accompanying picture.
Math:
We are continuing to explore identifying degree measurements of angles with the use of protractors and learning to utilize strategies to identify the missing measurement of an angle.
Writing:
We will be exploring our narrative writing skills by thinking of an experience that they have had or a made-up story of their choice. We will be utilizing the writer's process to create their narratives.
This week we are finishing the proofreading part of the writing process, and then finishing our final drafts.
Spelling:
Due to end-of-the-week activities, we were unable to complete our spelling tests. Therefore, this week we will be testing our spelling week 18 lists. They are available for students to take home and can practice on our Spelling City website.

If any students need/want to retry a test, please DM me so I can provide the needed spelling week list.

Healthy Futures for Alaska
Our spring Healthy Futures Challenge (HFC) kicks off on February 1st! February-April, students can fill out a Physical Activity Log each month. The goal is for students to be active for 60 minutes or more, at least 15 days out of the month. Students write their daily minutes and activities down on the appropriate date and turn in their completed login to Sue Thompson at the end of the month for a small reward. Every student can participate, so grab your calendar and get moving!
