"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"

January 14, 2022

Dear Families,

Our Auburn staff continues to persevere and do anything and everything necessary to provide your children with the safest and most productive learning environment! The last few weeks, the teachers have been covering classes, lunch recess duty and the front desk. A special shout out to Mrs. Cuthbertson who has been subbing for teachers this year more than she has been in the library! Her willingness to sub has provided our students with a trusted adult to provide continued learning when the classroom teacher is absent. If you have time to volunteer for lunch/recess coverage, now would be a great time to step up and support us!

I want to bring your attention to new covid protocols that were given to us by the county. Moving forward, if there is a student who tests positive for covid, everyone in the class will be notified and asked to monitor for symptoms. Students who test positive may now return after staying home five days, if they are symptom free. Please refer to the chart below regarding all of the different scenarios. A reminder that we are following county guidelines and they are as new to us as they are to you!

I am so thankful for our Auburn community. There is no other group of people who I would have wanted to go through a pandemic with! The home school partnership has only grown stronger throughout the last few years.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Ms. Middleton

  • Picking Up/Calling Out Your Student Early - In order to facilitate and process your students ability to leave early and avoid issues, the following steps will need to be followed. If these steps are not followed, your student will not be able to be released until the end of the day.
  1. Calls need to be made at least an hour prior to the pick-up/release time (we are unable to receive calls and process them instantaneously). Please understand that it is not realistic to expect our staff to process calls when you are not giving us ample time to prepare. Calls that request a pick-up in less than an hour will be processed and completed in a timely manner, but will result in a delay of releasing your student.
  2. Calls need to be made prior to 2:30. Calls after 2:30 will not be processed and students will be released at the end of school, except for rare emergencies.

Library the Book Challenge For January

Who will create the Best Snowman? Will it be you?

Your job is to read a book, and then make a snowman that represents a character

in the book. Things you can use to make your snowman are crayons, markers, or

any art supplies that you have. When you are done return the Snowman that you

have created to the library by January 24th. We will use the snowmen to

decorate our school library. Make sure fill out the top so I can send them home

when we take them down with a new book mark.

Family Support Safety and Security Resources

The shooting that occurred at Oxford High School is devastating and heartbreaking in a variety of ways. We mourn with the friends and families who lost loved ones in the attack and pray for a speedy recovery for the injured. As we work with our school communities to heal, the safety and well-being of our students, colleagues, and school community are of paramount importance.
