Indian Education Program Needs Assessment Survey

January 10, 2019 (Thursday) Chickasaw & Choctaw Cultural Night
Everyone is invited to come learn about Chickasaw and Choctaw tribal and cultural history. We will have:
Cultural foods
- We will also be providing chicken & refreshments
- Traditional dishes will be donated by other families
- If you would like to bring a dish, please call us at (405) 366-5809 and let us know what you're bringing

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Challenge Bowl
If you have a student in grades 3-12 that would like to compete in the Muscogee (Creek) Challenge Bowl, please contact our office. We have registered 6 teams for the following competitions. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, & transportation will be provided.
Competition date: Friday, February 1st
High School - 1 NHS and 1 NNHS team registered

Middle School - 1 Alcott/Longfellow Team - John Huynh, Team sponsor

Important Dates
Tuesday, January 8 - Parent Meeting - 6:30, Indian Education Office
Thursday, January 10 - Chickasaw and Choctaw Cultural Sharing Night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Whittier Middle School (2000 W Brooks). This is an effort to educate and share Chickasaw & Choctaw History, Language, Music, Art and Services to our Chickasaw and Choctaw families and community.
Monday, January 28 - Annual College and Career Night, Norman North High School College & Career Center (1809 Stubbeman Ave) - 4:00-7:30 p.m.
Teepee Pole Request
The Indian Education Office needs two teepee poles for a display. If possible, we need two 11 ft. long poles.
If you have two poles and would like to donate them, please contact our office.
2019 Oklahoma Regional Science Bowl
If your student forms a team and wins 1st at the Regional Bowl, we will advance to the National Science Bowl hosted in Maryland.
Indian Ed. Highlights
Middle schools competed against 9 schools & high schools against 19 other teams. Irving's team (Team Sponsor Stephen Hinkle) took first place and Norman North's team (Team Sponsor Tricia McDaniels) made their way all the way out of the loser's bracket and won first.
