TRUE NORTH: SCN FOOTBALL VALUE SYSTEM

Moving into the 2023 season, I wanted to freshen up our Northstar Mentality. Ten years ago, our 2013 class developed the Iron Star Code. Each point on the 5-pointed star is recognized to represent one belief that our program will be built on. Each point on the star is equal to the one before it. The values of Leadership, Investment, Selflessness, Accountability, and Preparation make up our North Star. In the center of the completed stars lies the T.E.A.M. For the past ten seasons and every moment in between, we have remained consistent in our steadfast belief in these five values. They are our "True North". These beliefs will be our compass in all we do as a program on and off the field. Much like the Northstar in maritime days, we will use our "True North" as the compass we will follow in the journey to the elite.

For this reason, we will be renaming our Iron Star Code as the St. Charles North "True North" mentality. I am proud of these words and what they mean. I have seen them transform lives, including my own. I hope you can share in our "True North" words and discuss these values with your son or daughter as much as possible. These behaviors win, and belief must exist in our journey to the elite. As we say, championship behaviors preceded championships. We must commit ourselves to these habits until they become our rituals.

I am passionate about these ideologies. I have spent the past ten years working relentlessly to develop this program and the people who are a part of it. While teaching is my job, coaching is my calling. I want to make this program the best high school athletics program in Illinois. I do not say this to toot my own horn; I am sharing this with you to provide insight into what I envision this program can be. The bottom line is that this program is significant to me, as are all of you. I cannot wait to take on the journey of this coming season.

Message from Coach Pomazak

Stars Family,

As Chris Farley said in Tommy Boy "It's go time!!!!" The bell has tolled, and our 2023 season is upon us! I could not be more excited to embark on the journey with all of you. I hope you had a great break and are ready to ride the wave. The "dead week" is an excellent opportunity to reflect, recharge, refocus and recommit to the process. I will not pull punches; the season will take us through many ups and downs. We will endure, succeed and then have to endure again. I tell our players that football is not a marathon. It is a series of sprints that last four months.

From August through November, we must answer the call each day and give our very best, only to do it again the next day and the day after. Each level in our program is ready to write their story of the season. Each team will have a different mission. At the freshman level, their mission might be to connect, transition into high school successfully and learn to play the game the North Star way. At the sophomore level, their mission might be to take the next step in their football progression and learn to play under the lights. At the varsity level, where wins and losses determine the fate of our season, the mission might be to develop the behaviors that win and play the game with so much passion that the last person in the stands can feel us play! Regardless of the mission, we will all share the same purpose: to create the moments that will last us a lifetime.

I hope this season brings you the same joy it brings me. Please take the time to enjoy the little moments. Once this ball gets rolling, it is impossible to stop. It will be over in a blink of an eye, and we are fighting each day to earn the right to have another day. Thank you for allowing our program to work with children and for allowing our football into yours!

Now let's roll Stars !!!

NIU TEAM CAMP

A great time was had at our annual team camp. Three days and two nights spent together on the field and off is a great way to end the summer. Our Stars are ready to shine this fall! They will build each day off the next and stack each small victory onto the next. Their chosen motto for the season is Brick by Brick '23 .

EARN YOUR STRIPES '23 WINNER IS MEN IN BLUE!!!

Congratulations to all of our platoons on a great EYS '23. The competition was fierce. During our NIU trip, the points were flying. The competitive juices were flowing, whether it be our annual Wiffle Ball game or Jeopardy Night. Our platoon leaders did great in stepping into their leadership roles and bringing their platoons along. It is not an easy job to lead your peers, and our six leaders were impressive.

Aedan Hayes

Each young man took the risk of leadership and is now better because of it. In the end, there can only be one winner, and because of Aedan Hayes's tremendous leadership, I am proud to announce that Men In Blue are the 2023 EYS champions. They will have their warms up paid for this coming season. Additionally, each of our top 10 point earners will also receive a free warm-up courtesy of the program.

FROSH AND SOPH HAVE SUCCESS AT BATAVIA

Last Thursday our frosh and soph had a great experience out at the Batavia 7 on 7 and linemen challenge. Congratulations to our Freshman on a very successful day and linemen on the win! I was privileged to watch our sophomores and was highly impressed with their knowledge and physical ability. Both teams are on pace for a big season on the gridiron—well done.

Thank you to our parents and players for making our card sale fundraiser a huge success. We sold just over 1700 cards as a program! URGENT !!! URGENT YOUR HELP NEEDED !!!! 4TH PHASE PARENT GROUP

SCN 4TH PHASE PARENT GROUP

Our resources are depleted, and our stars need your help. We are asking each family to pick up one of the following items below and have their son or daughter bring it in for July. With over 150 players in our program and 3 hours of camp each day it is essential that we keep our athletes nourished and hydrated. Please do your part and donate. We will also be organizing a drop-off date the week of July 10th for bigger orders. Thank you in advance.

OPEN BOOSTERS AND SCN 4TH PHASE POSITIONS MUST GET FILLED.

Our program must be the most represented in all of athletics. Our parents raised over 3,000 dollars for our program this past year because of their volunteering efforts for our boosters. Please consider volunteering for these great opportunities. The boosters group is an all-athletics group that creates opportunities for all sports. Additionally, our 4th Phase desperately needs concessions and other positions filled ASAP. If we do not supply the posts, it will directly impact your child's experience in our program. With out the support of every person, we cannot run the program at the capacity it has been used to. If we do not get the help in the coming weeks, we will have to restructure areas of our program which is not ideal.
