Greetings Four Seasons A+ Community
The end of a school year always brings a mix of emotions for students, staff, and families. For me, the end of this school marks a time to celebrate our many accomplishments and begin planning for the 2023 - 2024 school year.
I'm honored to return as the full-time principal next school year and look forward to continued growth in our community. As teachers and staff, next year, we will continue to focus on Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and providing the best academic instruction possible for all our students while focusing on the Arts.
I'm excited to announce that we have hired a new Dance teacher for next year and that dance will return as one of our specialist classes. We will also have two new teachers supporting academic and behavioral interventions for students and a content coach who will focus on supporting teacher development and arts integration. We also hope to hire three additional Teaching Assistants to support all classes. If you know anyone interested in working at Four Seasons as a Teaching Assistant, please encourage them to apply at spps.org/careers or have them reach out to me directly at ryan.fell@spps.org.
Thank you for your continued partnership throughout this school year. We cannot function without the support of our families and community members. I have enjoyed getting to know many of you this school year and look forward to continued collaboration with our community for years to come.
In Partnership,
Hot Weather - Inside and Outside
Four Seasons A+ is heating up! Our building is not air conditioned. Please dress for warm weather. Water bottles are a great way to keep hydrated and cool in the hot weather.
Four Seasons Field Day
Students will enjoy a variety of outdoor games and competitions. Prepare for the sun with sunscreen, hats, and water bottles. Volunteers are needed to help this event run smoothly. Fill out this form to volunteer for Field Day.
- Field Day for Grades 3-5 Monday, June 12, 12:15-1:30.
- Field Day for Grades Pre-K - 2 Tuesday, June 13, 12:15-1:30
Summer iPad Storage
Saint Paul Public Schools asks that all students take their iPads home for the summer unless families request the school stores them. When iPads are lost or misplaced over the summer, this can cause a delay in having a new iPad assigned to a student in the fall. iPads are a critical learning tool for classroom assignments and benchmark testing throughout the year. If you would like your student's iPad stored at school for the summer, please COMPLETE THIS FORM and return the iPad with its charger over the next two weeks.
- Students leaving the district must return their iPads and chargers to school
- Students attending SPPS summer school or ESY will take their iPads with them for the summer
- 5th Grade students attending an SPPS middle school should take their iPads home for the summer
Celebrate Four Seasons A+
During the event, families gave feedback on our Family Engagement Plan, School Continuous Improvement Plan and Compacts. These documents will help guide our work in 2023-2024. If you were unable to attend the event, and would like to offer feedback for next year, take the Four Seasons A+ Spring Survey.

In Our Classrooms
DHH Early Childhood Special Education
We have made it! It's the last school newsletter of the month and our littles have grown so much! Not only in height, but also in their skills! School is familiar, routines are clear, and friendships are solid. The end of the school year can be a hard time for students as these routines begin to come to an end. Our classes will continue to have letter-themed days as we finish out the final 2 weeks of school with Q starting the first day of June, trying to keep things as normal as possible, but excitement is filling our spaces as is hot air! Please remember that our building is not air conditioned and that we get WARM. Thank you for all your commitment this school year to your little and to our classrooms, we have enjoyed every day! We will finish the school year strong and can't wait to see everyone again in the fall! As a reminder, if your little is planning to attend Extended School Year (ESY), the dates are June 26-July 28th!

1st Grade
We have worked hard on our reading and math skills throughout this school year. Our strongest focus in math was on identifying numbers 1-120, being able to add and subtract to 12, and students have been exposed to time, money, and story problems. In reading our focus was on mastery of letter identification and sound, applying phonics skills to decoding and reading words, sentences, and short stories. We also worked on writing those words in sentences and used our phonemic awareness to sound spell. Our biggest hope for the summer would be to continue reading 15-30 minutes daily with your student (local libraries have amazing books and programs over the summer). And work on fun math problems and games! Thank you for sharing your wonderful learners with us and thank you for showing them how important parent/teacher partnerships are. We hope that continues through all their schooling!

2nd Grade
This has been such a great year in second grade! Our students have made awesome gains in Math and Literacy. As we are finishing up our last round of FAST testing, it has been a lot of fun celebrating their growth through the year! The new school STAR program was a big hit and the kids had so much fun celebrating each other's good behavior! We will end the year studying shapes, nonfiction, and new spelling patterns.
June 13th is our K-2 Field Day, and we are still in need of volunteers! Please call, or fill in this form, if you are interested in helping out with Field Day.
Thank you for all of your support this year! You can continue to support your child's education through summer by reading with them, setting up library cards at your local library, and practicing the basic math facts (adding/subtracting). This will help them retain what they have learned this year!
3rd Grade
It is unbelievable to think the 2022- 2023 school year is coming to a close. It has been so much fun to see all the growth from these kids, and we wish them all the best in fourth grade!
To recap:
Math- we have finished all of our lessons and the remaining days will be spent on review and some fun math projects.
Literacy- students did well in literacy this year and made some definite growth. The summer would be best spent making time for any type of reading and trips to the local library if possible.
Writing- the class worked really hard on their poetry unit and were able to put each of the four poems they wrote into a book. Also, lots of bravery, as so many students read and shared some of their poems in front of the class! The poems were: fingerprint, acrostic, shape and haiku. Students will be bringing their books home soon.
Additionally, we have some fun class activities coming up:
1.Field trip to the Como Planetarium for Rejda's class on Wednesday, June 7th from 10:00- 11:30 and Friday, June 9th from 10:00- 11:30 for Thorpe's class. We will have lunch upon our return to Four Seasons. We could use 1 or 2 volunteers for each class - so, if interested, please contact your child's teacher or our school clerk, Ms. Susie.
2. Field Day for grades 3- 5 will be Monday, June 12 from 12:00- 1:00pm - volunteers are needed, fill out this form if you can help.
We also have one more report card coming home, and it should be posted in campus by Friday, June 16th.
Thank you for a great year and have a safe and enjoyable summer!!

Transition to 6th Grade
As we near the end of the year, 5th grade students have been learning about the transition to middle school. This includes practice reading a middle school schedule and learning how to open a combination lock. For more information on how to prepare for your child to head to middle school, follow the link below.
Physical Education (PE)
PE was new this year at Four Seasons and my goal was to encourage them to move and find joy moving, to try some new activities, and to spark some curiosity to try some new things on their own! Big things we have been working on this year and will continue to work on are: being able to work with others, how to be a good sport, that making mistakes is okay and part of learning, and how to work out conflict that may arise.
The most important thing I want all of my students to know is that everyone can have fun and be successful moving. Moving helps you keep your balance and makes you feel good! Encourage your child to get outside and move this summer, even better—play together as a family! Some of my favorite activities during the summer are: hiking, running, biking and swimming. I hope you and your family can find time to do some of your favorite activities and find some new ones too!
