NEW LEBANON SCHOOL
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! We know the past two weeks have not been easy for many families. The increase in positive covid cases has been stressful, frustrating, and interruptive to our holidays. While we recognize this, we also recognize the strength of our community to come together (even if not physically) and stay strong. We are always here to support one another. If you are wondering what you can do as a family to tolerate uncertainty, please feel free to utilize this article from our School Psychologist, Ms. Kaitlin Cyr, "Dealing With Uncertainty in the Face of Omicron". If we can support you or your family in any way during this time, please reach out. You can always reach our School Psychologist, Kaitlin Cyr, at 203-413-8506.
We hope you have a restful and relaxing holiday break - we will see you in 2022!
Magnet Application - NOW OPEN!
Do you have friends in other areas of town who are interested in New Lebanon School? You can live ANYWHERE in Greenwich and come to New Lebanon School! Our MAGNET SCHOOL APPLICATION is now live on our website and is DUE on February 1, 2022. Our Magnet Open Houses will be virtual on January 20th at 9:00am and January 20th at 6:30pm.
Check out New Leb featured in the Greenwich Alliance Newsletter!
We invite you to read the latest newsletter from the Greenwich Alliance for Education. The December wrap up includes Turkey Trot triumphs, AVID accolades, and much more. The Alliance is a public/private funding partner to GPS, funding innovation, expanding opportunities, and inspiring educators.
No Contact Tracing Over the Break
If a student tests positive or is exposed to COVID during the break, families may notify their school nurse on or before Sunday, January 2. GPS will not conduct contact tracing or update the COVID tracker over the break so that our health care team can enjoy a much needed break. With so many individuals traveling, contact tracing can be challenging.
Suspension of Screen & Stay
Unfortunately, due to the uptick of positive cases in the Greenwich community, GPS will be suspending the use of Screen & Stay for students and staff until further notice. Last month, GPS had opted in to the Governor’s Screen and Stay initiative where students and staff identified as close contacts to a known COVID-19 case, but who are not yet fully vaccinated would be able to remain in school if they were wearing masks and don’t develop symptoms. We will keep the school community updated if we decide to participate in this initiative again.
Second-Dose Vaccination Clinic
For those children that received their first COVID vaccination on December 5 at Hamilton Avenue School, second doses are scheduled to be administered on Tuesday, December 28 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the same location. Griffin Hospital has told us that they are also sending reminders to those families.
