August Update

Hello Parents and Guardians,

It's hard to believe it's already August and we are busy planning the return of our students! We wanted to send you all the information below as we close out the last few weeks of summer. As always, feel free to contact the main office with any questions you may have.

Important Dates Ahead

August 4th-19th: 9th grade and new student counseling meetings

August 4th-20th: Detention hours can be served in the main office

August 18th: Online Registration Due

August 19th & 20th: FINAL Schedules emailed home to families that have completed their registration

August 25th: FIRST DAY for FRESHMAN

August 26th: FIRST DAY for GRADES 10-12


September 6th: NO SCHOOL, Labor Day

September 8th: School Picture Day (Grades 9-11)

September 22nd: Early Release (Day ends at 1:00pm)

Sepetmber 27th-October 1st: Homecoming Week


October 7th & 12th: Parent-Teacher Conferences (4pm-7pm)

October 13th: Early Release

October 20th-22nd: NO SCHOOL (Professional Development)

October 27th: Early Release

October 29th: End of Quarter 1

Online Registration & Final Schedules

Your registration through PowerSchool must be completed in order to receive your FINAL SCHEDULE. There have been changes since May, so it is imperative that you get an up to date copy of your schedule. Registrations should be completed by Wednesday, August 18th to ensure that you are emailed your child's schedule by the end of the week.


If you are unable to access your PowerSchool Parent Portal to complete the online registration, please contact the office as soon as possible.

Individual Chromebook Checkout is BACK!

All students needing a chromebook to take to and from school will have the opportunity to check one out during the first week of school. Parents and students can choose to purchase Chromebook insurance and protective cases through your student's myschoolbucks.com account.

White Cards for Athletic Participation

White cards are required for any student participating in athletics. At this time we are giving out white cards for all FALL athletics.


In order to obtain your white card, turn in all the items below at your earliest convenience to the main office:

-Physical Form (physicals must be after April 15, 2021 to be considered up to date)

-GFPS Code of Conduct Form

-Concussion Form

-Participation Fee (payable through myschoolbucks.com) *Waivers are availble for those who qualify for free and reduced lunch

Lockers

Lockers will be available for studnets this year, however they will be distributed as needed. If your student is in need of a locker, please have them stop in the main office during the first week of school.

Activity Passes Are BACK!

Beginning August 10th, student and parent activity passes will be available for purchase through your child's myschoolbucks.com account. Students and parents can pick up their passes in the main office after purchase. Activity passes cover all regular season athletic event entries.


Activity Passes Cost:

Adult: $80.00

Student: $40.00


Regular Event Prices:

Adult: $6.00

Student: $4.00

School Supplies

Red River High School does not have a specific school supply list. Students should have a backpack to carry their belongings, paper, writing utensils, calculators, etc. Teachers might ask students to purchase some supplies for their specific class through the first few weeks.


*PE Uniforms- PE grey t-shirts must be warn and purchased through Gerrell's or Scheels.

Pictures

School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 8th for freshman, sophomores and juniors. Checks should be made payable to Caulfield Studio. Picture packets will be passed out the week prior in your student’s English classes.


Make-Up days will be communicated at a later date.

2021-22 Free and Reduced Meal Application

All families who qualify for free and reduced meals, MUST fill out a new application EACH year.

Annual FERPA Form

If you are choosing to remove your student from one or more of the items listed, please print and return the form to the RRHS main office at the start of the school year.
