Keeping you Informed
I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I got to get out and see my daughter's basketball team on Saturday and go with my son on Sunday to see the Seahawks play the Rams. Unfortunately, neither my daughter's team or the Seahawks won. I always found that as a coach that adversity revealed character and prosperity conceals character. When one of my teams lost it forced me to look at what went wrong and embrace the struggle that comes with adversity and use it as a learning experience. This is not different in our classrooms. Productive struggle is something that all students need to grow as learners. The article below is about productive struggle and the importance it plays in our classrooms. Lastly, the video is a 60-second strategy highlighting Tranverse Talk with is a way for students to discuss a topic quickly and with many others in a short amount of time. Last week we saw just the tip of the iceberg about restorative practices in the classroom and Tranverse Talk would fit right into that model allowing for student voice. Have a great Monday!
5forALL Focus
Each week I would like to highlight a technique or strategy that is part of 5forALL.
This week would be a great time to look at Structuring Accountable Interactions. The video below helps create a different structure that you might not be currently using when you have students work collaboratively.
