Cookie Excavation
Ms. Spengler's Social Studies classes finished their unit on archaeology by having students become archaeologists through a Cookie Excavation. Each student received one chocolate chip cookie, and it was their job to carefully excavate all the chocolate chips with two toothpicks as their tools. The average cookie had about 20-25 chips!

Cool Beans Cafe
Today was our official opening of Cool Beans Cafe. The kids did such an amazing job fulfilling their job positions and making sure the coffee was delivered. Keep a look out on Mondays for order forms. Thank you for the continued support!

Sharing Connections
For Tech-less Thursday, Ms. Fil's Convocation participated in a team building activity called "Me Too." Students learned the importance of sharing connections. Even though we may all be different, we still share many similarities such as, our favorite color, movie, or sports team.
Family Feud
This year, the 8th Grade School Counselor, Mrs. Mento, will be conducting a social skills game of “Family Feud” with all 8th grade students. The game will be held every month in each Pod’s Social Studies class. The first topic of the school year is “How to be a Successful 8th Grade Student.” Mrs. Mento will meet with Mr. Komack’s classes on 10/13; Mr. McAlister’s classes on 10/20; and Mr. Hammond’s classes on 10/27. Let the games begin!
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win over Galloway yesterday. Scoring for the Eagles was Sebastian Antonius with 2 goals and Marko Markoski with 1 goal. Center backs Nathan Rosenberg and Abraham Leonardo de Castro held it down for the Eagles defensively to secure the win. Great job guys.
Cross Country
Tuesday, October 10th, the Fernwood Cross Country team traveled to take on William Davies. The team took on the challenge of running a new course and came away with a fantastic overall performance.
The boys team won with a score of 22 to 37. Remember the lowest score wins in cross country.
Our team took 4 of the top 5 spots. Brayden Widas the boys top performer in 2nd, Ryan Cooke in 3rd, Martin Rodriguez in 4th, and Eason Lassiter in 5th. Connor Adderley and Jeremy Cooke came in 7th and 8th to secure the win. Jack McDevitt also had a fantastic sprint finish to top off a new personal best time.
The girls secured the first 4 spots and got the win as well. 19 to 36.
Molly Rooney locked in another 1st place finish running most of the race entirely by herself. Neena Peter came in 2nd, Kacey Denning 3rd, and Emma Baird 4th. These three girls worked hard to overcome a wrong turn on the course to maintain their positions. A sprint finish for 9th by Lily Tosh secured the win for the girls.
