Principal's Message
Dear Evergreen Elementary Families,
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy with all of the challenges we are currently facing as a community. From COVID-19, to wildfires, to power outages, and poor air quality, we are all becoming very resilient individuals and families! We appreciate your support with the elements of distance learning that can be challenging. You all are doing such a wonderful job with partnering with us to best educate your children. If you need any support along the way, please reach out to your child's teacher or any of us in the office. We are here to help!
It has been such a pleasure to attend teacher Back to School Night presentations. Back to School Night can be an exciting, yet overwhelming event for teachers (teachers chose this career to work with kids, and not grownups :) We are about 1/4 of the way through our individual teacher presentations, and I am incredibly impressed with all of their virtual classrooms they have created for our students. I love getting to see families at these presentations and be able to connect with you all. I am truly missing our back to school community events, so it is great to be able to connect with you all virtually.
Our next material pickup day will be combined with school picture day on September 24, 2020. Please see the School Picture Day section below for all the details.
Speaking of pictures... we are looking for a parent to coordinate our Yearbook this year. If you enjoy scrapbooking or making photo books, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Everything is done online, and our Lifetouch representative is a great support with creating this book. If you would like to volunteer for this position, I will be forever grateful to you! Please email me at jennifer_hansen@crpusd.org if you would like more details.
Do you ever wonder where Mrs. Heald got her flexible seating options for her classroom, where Ms. Uwins got the Keva Planks, or how I paid for our Meet the Masters art curriculum? CRPUSD staff members often write grants for items that they need for their classrooms from the Education Foundation of Cotati and Rohnert Park. The Ed Foundation is now hosting our annual Sharing of the Green event. This very fun event is normally held in the spring at the Doubletree Hotel, however we had to reschedule this due to COVID-19. It is now virtual, and there are hundreds of items listed, from gift certificates, food, wine, apparel, sports memorabilia, etc. Again, all donations go directly back to CRPUSD students, please consider bidding on some items. The flyer and link to bidding is listed below.
Thank you!
Warmest regards,
Jen Hansen
Principal

easyCBM
All Evergreen students (except TK students and some of our SDC students) will be taking easyCBM assessments in the areas of Language Arts and Math during the month of September. All elementary and middle school students in CRPUSD will take these assessments. Their purpose is to provide teachers and our district with data on how our students are performing, and areas that we need to reteach. These assessments are not graded or tied to your child's report card. Please do not help your child with these assessments, as this will not provide an accurate picture of their current academic levels. Just encourage them to do their personal best!
Some assessments will be linked through your Seesaw or Google Classroom, and will be assigned by your classroom teacher. These independent assessments will be accessed through the easyCBM website via Rapid Identity. Your teacher will notify parents exactly which assessments to take. They will also provide written directions and video instructions on how to login. Please don't attempt to start these until you receive direction from your child's teacher.
Other easyCBM assessments require 1:1 administration. Our Learning Center staff will be administering these live assessments with your child via Google Meet. Your classroom teacher will be providing a link to a Sign Up Genius so you can pick the time for your child's assessment. Please make sure that your child doesn't miss this assessment time slot, as we need all students to be assessed.
Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Lunches and Food Pickups
Grab and Go Lunches will continue to be provided on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11am-1pm at Rancho Cotate High School, Technology Middle School, and Lawrence Jones Middle School.
The Redwood Empire Food Bank will continue to offer free food pickup for all families regardless of status on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm at Rancho Cotate High School, Technology Middle School, and Lawrence Jones Middle School.
It is critical that families that qualify fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Price Application for the 2020-2021 school year. The application is linked at the button below.
