Hello Fabulous Silver Gate Families,

As many of you know, after distance learning, I became 200-hour yoga/social & emotional learning (SEL) certified to bring more peace and stability to Silver Gate. Maria, Sharon and I have been working diligently to establishing a Wellness Center on campus that would be open for the whole school. Here is our progress report:

• Silver Gate parent Mel Balwin, who has a child in second grade, generously donated a container from his company Units/ Moving and Portable Storages to house all of the excess furniture that is currently occupying room B5.

• Sharon, Maria, and Room 19 students (during their running time) worked to move some furniture into the storage container and prepare others to be returned to the district, opening up space in the classroom.

• Now we are ready to acquire the materials through Donors Choose to convert the classroom into a place where all Silver Gate classes can come for mindful movement, meditation, breathing lessons and overall restoration, if they are interested.

Now is the stage in this process when we need your help! Please make a donation to our Donors Choose site so that we can purchase the materials to complete this transformation from a classroom to a Wellness Center. This Tuesday (November 29th) is Giving Tuesday and any donation that you make that day will be DOUBLED by an anonymous donor, so please mark your calendars so we can take advantage of this amazing offer. The TK/Kinder kids will stretch their artistic muscles, and the older kids will get to dig in with the worms! We just added a TON of worms to the lower garden compost so have fun exploring.

Lesson Overview:

T-K/Kinder - Introduce kids to the concepts of Photosynthesis and Chlorophyll. They will also learn why some leaves change color in many parts of the fall.

First/Second - Kids will observe and study worms while learning about decomposition. (It also includes a quick fact v fiction activity.)

Third/Fourth - Kids will observe and study worms while learning about decomposition. (It also includes a quick fact v fiction activity.)
