Eagle Nation: Weekly GWHS News

Back 2 School Edition: Vol 1. Issue 5/ September 13, 2021

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Eagle Nation,

As we reflect back on this week, I can’t help but marvel at the tenacity of the GW Eagle family. We are proud of our students, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians. Our goal is to maintain our tradition of excellence and ensure that Good Ol’ GW continues to be a place where students are able to fully take advantage of their educational opportunities and learn to be caring and responsible young people. In this week’s issue we will kick off our weekly campaign to honor those GW Eagles, past and present, who have gone above and beyond to promote and maintain our tradition of excellence.

Continued success comes forth when we provide experiences that are engaging, meaningful, and challenging. George Washington High School has a history of fine academic, athletic, and extracurricular accomplishments. We are proud of this excellent tradition, and we are excited about great things to come such a monthly SGA/SCA meetings and sponsored events, Teachers as Advisors sessions and Club Days.

Our dedicated faculty and staff aim to challenge our students academically and provide guidance that leads to improvements in independent thinking, decision-making, and problem solving. I have found that the collaboration of the school community and all stakeholders working together each and every day is the exemplary quality of an effective school. It will take all of us to help our students do well inside and outside of the classroom as we continue to prepare them to be 21st century learners. The school learning community is strengthened by our partnerships.

Our faculty and staff look forward to working with you and your student throughout this school year.

Go Eagles!

Homecoming 2021 is right around the corner. We are so very excited for this year's activities. Applications will be available tomorrow in the front office.

Congratulations to all 2021-22 SGA & SCA Representatives!

The George Washington High School Student Government Association (SGA) is a group of students that are charged with managing a wide range of events, activities, programs, policies and initiatives around school. It is comprised of the class officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) from each grade level's Student Council. Some members are elected by the student body, and others may be appointed by the elected officials to help with specific tasks or areas of interest. The George Washington grade level Student Council Association is comprised of an elected group of students that have regular meetings about their class. They make decisions for their class and are in charge of any class activities. We will host our first SGA/SCA meeting on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 @ 2:15 in the cafeteria. If you have any ideas, questions, or concerns that you would like presented to the SGA/SCA, please be sue to speak with your homeroom representative prior to this week's meeting.

To succeed like an eagle, you first need to develop the mindset of an eagle. To develop this mindset, reread this post every morning and as often as you can during the day. Throughout your day, look for opportunities to incorporate its contents into your attitude and your life.

Parents, enable your child to develop the mindset of an eagle. Surround them with people who role model this mindset. Role model it for your child yourself. Tell your child what you think and do and why. Tell him these things as he is growing up, even when he is very small.

Be a world changer! Be a human eagle with the mindset of an eagle, the success mindset. The success mindset can change the world!

Soar like an eagle over life’s storms! Be a human eagle! Develop the success mindset!
