Poe was an American writer, critic, and editor he is famous for his tales and poems of horror and mystery.
What was his childhood life?
Poe never grew up with his parents when he was 3 his mom died of TB and his dad let them before she died. That left him and his siblings in foster care where they were separated. Poe went to live with the Allen's.
How big a part of his life was filled with sickness and death?
Every woman that was close to Poe died with TB. Again his mom died of it when he was 3 and his wife and foster both died at the age 25 for TB also. This makes you wonder if he carried it.
When did he Publish his first written work?
Poe published his first book in 1827. Tamerlane and other poems all published at the same time.

His significant work was the Raven. It was about depressing things and was just a sad story. He wrote it right after his wife died.
