Message From The Principal: Week of 10/9/2017
Dear PRT Family,
We move into the last week of the first quarter. Students will have the opportunity to try out for the fall/winter play this week (Elf Jr.). Seeing the set already coming together from Mrs. Gardner's stage craft class, I'm so excited for this production in a couple months. It'll bring with it 4 shows, a winter wonderland, and large crowds...it's going to be amazing.
The 7th and 8th grade girls' basketball teams have been formed with the conclusion of their tryouts last week. Games begin on 10/17...the season wastes no time. Football has their second to last game this week vs CST (7FB is home).
This Thursday is an opportunity for 8th grade parents to hear about high school options for their child next year. Ms. Hey will be facilitating a presentation and Q&A session for parents (more info below).
There's also no school on Friday! Students are lined up for a couple short weeks in a row...good times!
Have a great week!
Rick Sola, principal

Fall 2017 Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences at PRT are an arena style conference. All teachers are set up in the multi-purpose room (MPR) in the middle of the school. You can come and go as you like and visit teachers as they become available. Unless initiated by a parent or teacher on an individual basis, conferences aren't scheduled in blocks as they are in elementary schools.
Out of consideration for those waiting in line, staff are encouraged to keep conferences under 10 minutes while on the floor. If you anticipate needing to speak with your child's teacher/teachers longer, or the need to do so arises, an appointment can be set up outside of conferences with the teacher/team.
Conference Schedule
10/18-Wednesday--4:30-8:30pm
10/19-Thursday--11am-4pm; 4:45-8pm
6th Grade Parents @ Conferences
PE staff will be showing the human growth and development video during conferences in couple weeks. This is good time to ask questions, hear about how the teachers present these board approved materials, and be informed so you can have conversation with your child. A letter will be sent home to parents prior to the unit being taught as a heads up and typically coincides with the winter months. The schedule to watch the videos is below…
Boys—Room 206: 10/18-6:30pm; 10/19-1pm and 6pm
Girls—Room 204: 10/18-6:30pm; 10/19-1pm and 6pm
Parents, we need your help!
PRT Calendar is now online!

*Tip* I saw Mrs. Keil use a pie chart with her class to divide up their time--this include sleeping and time at school...certainly the perspective is visible as students input their own activities. Have them tell you about their day!

Students will be excluded from school if there is no record of them having this immunization. You can call Mrs. Anselmi if you are not sure. Thanks so much for your help.

PRT Traffic Pattern
- Arrive and depart using Valley Road (between Meadowlane and K-State Bio-Science Center).
- When dropping off, please pull forward as far as possible behind the auxiliary (new) gym (see yellow box below). This will allow as many cars as possible into the drive. Students will have quick, supervised, and easy access to the building.
- The front drive is reserved for bus traffic and those needing to park and come into the building from 7:15-7:40 and 3:00-3:20pm.
- No entering or exiting using the back drive before or after school.
- For student and traffic safety, no drop offs or pick ups on 107th Street.
Students waiting for their rides beyond 3:30 will be asked to move to the front of the building. This is for student safety as the office will be accessible.
- Please follow directions given by PRT staff on duty.
This pattern was implemented prior to the project on College and Lone Elm. We've had success with this pattern in promoting an efficient system and your continued help is much appreciated!
