Carboard CHALLENGE: 2016 Plans
Cardboard Challenge 2016
We are excited to bring back the Cardboard Challenge this October! We hope to make this challenge better than ever. Mrs. Davidson, our art teacher, and Mrs. Schneider, our media specialist, are teaming up to make this challenge even better!
This year, all 4th and 5th grade students will work in art studying design elements, creative and collaborative thinking to create a detailed blueprint to better plan, and in turn, produce an amazing cardboard product. Since our Eagles are creating a blueprint and plan prior to their engineering day, we are asking for each team to provide the amount of cardboard they will need for their cardboard challenge piece. Some may need a cereal box, others a shoe box, while some may need something a bit larger. We ask that 4th and 5th graders bring their boxes (supplies) to their classrooms to store for their construction day. Of course, the media center has many extra cardboard boxes for students that may need some.
Our third graders will also participate in their own Cardboard Challenge later this year; following their research unit on inventors/inventions. Mrs. Davidson will work with them to design a cardboard game blueprint, Mrs. Schneider will aide in engineering, and Mrs. Lindsey will let them play in PE. More information regarding this unit of study will come second semester for our third grade families.
All Eagles, grades 3rd-5th will participate this year in the Cardboard Challenge! We hope to make their experience not only fun and engaging, but more meaningful and collaborative!
