Santa Clara Clarion
Staying Connected, October 30
Does any relate to leaving for a trip, conference, emergency other and dreading coming back home or to the office because you know things will be piled up, out of place, and not at all peaceful?
Today, my family and I took several hours to organize the house again, put away laundry, clean rooms and bathrooms, found better places for personal items, finally get to mini projects for the house and so forth. When we left, it felt so good knowing that when we came home, we would have a sense of peace in a house that was in order.
Are we being authentic in our relationship with Jesus and with others? Is our Monday, Tuesday self the same as our Saturday or Sunday self? Are we truly putting Christ first. Let's take the time to reflect personally. The days that we have are numbered. It is important that we have our "house" in order.
Psalms 90: 12-14
12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Relent, LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Did you know that The Salvation Army has an International Position Statement on Pornography? And has also created a Study Guide on the subject matter? The Salvation Army’s White Ribbon Against Pornography (W.R.A.P.) week will be taking place October 30 – November 5, 2022 and is dedicated to spreading awareness on how pornography affects the brain, heart, relationships, and the world around us.

Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands Territory
Territorial Leaders: Colonels Garth and Patti Niemand
Prayer requests:
§ Give thanks to the Lord, that despite many challenges, the PNGSI Territory continues to plant new congregations, enrol new soldiers, and increase the active officer force year on year.
§ Pray for the physical health of our officers around the territory, as they minister in remote appointments while having to contend with an inadequate national health system.
§ Pray for the children of our officers who are separated from their parents due to the lack of sufficient schooling in many parts of PNG. We thank God for the international support that allows the territory to cover school fees for officers’ children.
§ Pray for the leadership in the Solomon Islands (Majors Robert & Vanessa Evans) as they diligently implement their district development strategy to develop local leaders, enhance financial sustainability, and to grow their missional footprint.
§ Pray for the continued implementation of the Territorial Strategic Plan: “Rebuild-Restore-Renew-2025”, as we address the priorities of the territory under the pillars of sanctification, service, sustainability and strategy.
§ Pray for the preparations for the Commissioning events at the two campuses (Port Moresby and Kainantu) in late November and early December, respectively.
§ Pray for the launch of the 2023 territorial theme: ‘Regeneration’ - “I’m going to grow tendons on you, regenerate your flesh, cover you with skin, and make you breathe again so that you can come back to life and learn that I am the Lord” Ezekiel 37:6 (ISV). May the Spirit breathe new life into his people again and keep us holy, faithful and energised.
§ Give thanks to God for the many young people in The Salvation Army and pray for their protection and that they will reach their full potential in the church, and in the nations of PNG and the Solomon Islands.
§ Prayer for the Salvationist to grow mature in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and they will effectivelyreach out to those who are not save.

Life Line Screening on December 7
Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings, will offer affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Salvation Army Citadel of Santa Clara on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
A package of four screenings to identify risk for stroke, heart disease and other chronic conditions will be offered:
Carotid Artery Screening (Plaque)
An ultrasound is performed to screen the carotid arteries (a pair of blood vessels in the neck that deliver blood to your brain) for buildup of fatty plaque. This buildup, called atherosclerosis, is one of the leading causes of stroke.
Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening
An Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test is performed using blood pressure cuffs on the arms and legs. It is important to screen for PAD because it increases the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, or stroke.1
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
An ultrasound is performed to screen the abdominal aorta for the presence of an enlargement or aneurysm. AAA can lead to a ruptured aortic artery, which is a serious medical emergency.
Atrial Fibrillation
A 6-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) is performed by placing sensors on the arms and legs to screen for Atrial Fibrillation. AFib can lead to blood clots, stroke, and heart failure, and other heart-related complications.2
These 4 vital screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. Register by calling toll free 1-888-653-6441, text the word "circle" to 216-279-1607 or online at https://llsa.social/HC
ENCORE - April 15
Participation in ENCORE! also provides opportunities for other life lessons. ENCORE! can help in the development of self-assurance and confidence. It can help our young people to understand the importance of proper preparation and of presenting themselves in a positive way. Those in groups can learn the importance of a collaborative creative process – that each part of a group can contribute to the overall presentation of the whole group.
Who Should Participate in Encore?
We hope that the ENCORE program will help corps growth. Prospective Junior & Senior Soldiers are both allowed and encouraged to participate. However, young people are not to be brought in just for this event. They should be attending the corps on a regular basis with the aim of becoming a Junior and Senior Soldier.
