Big picture

May It Be of Benefit

Hello Families,

I trust that Thanksgiving Day 2020 was memorable for you and yours. I know it was strange for me to not be with the usual LARGE crowd of my extended family, but it was still very yummy, and I was grateful to be with my closest loved ones, to be in good health, and for the gorgeous day. When we return from the break on Monday, November 30th, we will be back on Distance Learning. If your student was absent Friday, the 20th, and did not get their Chromebook and other necessary supplies for DL, please contact their teacher directly by using the email address at the bottom of this newsletter. If you are unable to email, you can call the school at 224-4180 and ask to be transferred to their voicemail. Students are expected to log into their Morning Meeting on Monday to receive their daily instructions. Students not present for the Morning Meeting are marked absent.

Remember that on DL, Monday is a unique day for all learners. On Mondays, the class has their morning meeting then does asynchronous work (work on their own) and MAY be included in small group sessions. Mondays following the morning meeting are set aside for small group work (intervention/catching up/specific, teacher-directed learning). Tuesday through Friday, the class will follow their daily schedule and start with a Morning Meeting followed by 45 minutes of Language Arts and another 45 minutes of Math instruction with additional small group instruction time (your child's specific class schedule can be accessed in the Grade Level Team section at the bottom of the newsletter). There will also be some asynchronous work assigned daily. Students have made great strides in the first trimester, and we are counting on them to continue learning in the weeks between now and January 11th. If there is something that I or our staff can do to support you in this return to DL, please reach out. We are in this together!

With gratitude,

Mrs. Gold

Attention 4th and 5th Grade "Permanent DL Families"

Starting January 11th, if your 4th or 5th grader has been on "permanent DL", your student will be moving to a new Distance Learning class with a new teacher who is fully devoted to distance learning only. More information will be coming in the next couple of weeks.
