Principal's Message

Woodland Parents and Guardians:

As March draws near, there’s hope for warmer weather, longer days and new beginnings. I also see it as a time of celebration that we have been able to stay in person as long as we have. While conditions around the pandemic have been improving we don’t want to put our guard down.

We continue to use cohort groups and uphold all the requirements directed by the MN Department of Health. Masks, hand washing/sanitizing, social distancing and sanitizing of spaces and materials continue to be our standard protocols. Please take a moment to watch the short video below that 'opens our doors' for you to see what a day in the life of a student looks like at Woodland.

Thank you for your continued support through this colorful year. Our theme is TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More). Never before has this been more true.

A Day in the Life of a Woodland Student

The video below highlights a few of the safety protocols we have in place this year that align with the MN Dept of Health's Safe Learning Plan and Alexandria Public Schools Covid Preparedness Plan. Keep in mind this is a sampling of what our day looks like. If you have further questions about the procedures in place, please let me know.

Our students have embraced the challenges this year like champs and they continue to celebrate all the good about our school.

Check out what the 3rd grade students from Mrs. Kuennen's class wrote about Woodland School:

Woodland is a great school! It has a spectacular learning environment. Our

building is modern, clean, and updated. The technology is advanced. All

students have their own Chromebook and each classroom has a SMART TV.

Woodland has excellent facilities. There is a huge gym, stage, fun playground,

separate classrooms for special area classes, and an enormous lunchroom

and Media Center. The people here are spectacular! Our principal is terrific!

She is kind and nice. Teachers are caring and teach us a lot. The rest of the

staff work really hard too! As you can see, Woodland is an amazing school.

We have so much to celebrate at our school. Thanks again for your partnership in supporting our school through this unique year.

While we are not able to use the Makerspace room this year, we have created two Makerspace Carts that are primarily used by K-2 students. If you have old craft items that you are wanting to get rid of, we would gladly accept them. We can use any of the following (or other similar items) for our Makerspace Carts:

  • Fabric

  • Pom Poms

  • Beads

  • Googly Eyes

  • Popsicle Sticks

  • Stickers

  • Feathers

  • Pipe Cleaners

  • Small paper cups or plates

Our safety protocol with the Makerspace Carts includes teacher distribution of items, students using their own materials such as glue, markers, etc., and allowing donated items to sit for 48 hours prior to using.

Thanks much!

All students, staff, parents and community members are expected to follow the standards of respect, honesty, kindness, responsibility and fairness when involved in school related activities.
