Important Back to School Notes
Everyone at MPES is excited to welcome our students back to school on Monday, August 27th! We have been very busy the past two weeks preparing for an amazing year ahead. As we get closer to the first day of school , I would like to share some important information and reminders. Please take a few minutes to read all of the information in this newsletter so that you and your child are ready for the 2018-2019 school year. I hope to see everyone at our Open House on August 22nd!

Car Rider Tags
MPES will be continuing the Car Rider Dismissal procedures from last year. If your child will be a car rider in the afternoons, you will need to register him/her for a Car Tag. Parents will need to complete the 18-19 registration form even if you have a tag from last year. This registration form is for MPES students only. If your student has a sibling attending Cougar Elementary, you will need to register both students with Cougar Elementary. Once you have completed the registration form, you will receive a Car Tag with an assigned number. Please note the Car Tag must be placed on the dash of your car or hung from your rearview mirror.
Please be sure to stop by the car registration table at our Open House to register and receive your 18-19 car tag. Car tag registration forms will also be available in the main office once the school year begins.
Important Reminder for All Returning Students
If you have not already completed the Online Returning Student Data Verification, please do so as soon as possible. Parents of returning students must access Infosnap forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.mpark.net/public Visit https://www.mpark.net/parents/returning-student-data-verification for more information.
Two Dates Left for Device Deployments
This year, our device deployment will take place along with the deployments for students in grades 6-12. You may attend one of the four scheduled deployment dates below.

We strongly encourage you to complete your online Returning Student Data Verification and pay your students' $25 Technology Fee through MySchoolBucks prior to attending a deployment session to make the process once you arrive go more quickly.
MySchoolBucks
Manassas Park City Schools will continue to offer MySchoolBucks. This convenient online payment service provides a quick and easy way to pay for school-related purchases. You can pay for items such as meal payments, technology, field trips, PE uniforms, and more using your credit/debit card or electronic check. All students in grades 2 – 12 will be assigned a technology device for the new school year; the technology fee of $25 for each student can now be paid via MySchoolBucks. Please be sure to bring a copy of your payment receipt to the device deployment. Register for your FREE account today at https://www.MySchoolBucks.com.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
The application is open and available for all families to see if they qualify. The paperwork needs to be completed in the first 30 days of school. After this time, if the paperwork is not completed, all meals charged to start the school year will be billed as full price. I encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
Have you Heard About our Family Market?
The goal of the Family Market program is to help alleviate hunger through a monthly distribution of healthy and nutritious food to children and their families. Manassas Park Schools has partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank to provide non-perishable items and fresh produce to families within our school division. Each family will be allowed to “shop” for what they need and want from an array of products.
Please join us on Thursday, August 30th as we begin our fifth year!
