Gold Medal Crew #GMC

October is a big month!! We have had a great start to the school year and now the goal is to build momentum as we get into the meat of the year. Our first round of CBAs will be coming up this month. These exams are important barometers on where are students are currently performing. As you talk with your student about the importance of these exams, emphasize to them that the most important thing is that we get their best. We talk about hard work everyday, so on CBA days, we expect nothing less. It isn't about getting them all right, it is about ensuring that we have an accurate picture of what our student's know and can do. We have lots of time to intervene and help from there.

PTMS Remind 2023-2024

Pine Tree Middle School will use Remind to help facilitate messages in a timely fashion. To join text @48cbkk to 81010. This is a school wide account and is not tied to any specific teacher.

Chocolate Sales

We are currently in the middle of our campus wide fundraiser. Thank you for all those that have gotten a box of chocolates to sell. National Night Out-Tuesday, October 3

We will be hosting 4 block parties this year--- Birdie Park, Hughes Chapel, Greggton Methodist Church, and Flamingo Trailer Park (which will be held next door at the Masonic Lodge on Pine Tree Rd.) Please come out and enjoy a hotdog and some fun.

We will be out from 5:00-7:00 serving hot dogs and playing games!! All are welcome to join us!!

CBA Information

As I mentioned earlier, our first round of CBAs are coming up this month. Students will most likely test in their 1st period classes. Rosters will be posted before test day to ensure students know their testing locations. It is very important that students are present for the entirety of the day of testing day. Afternoon Pickup

We appreciate everyone's patience with our afternoon pickup. We have gotten into a good groove and most of our students are gone by 4:20. We are experiencing a small issue with some students that are still on campus until almost 5:00. We kindly ask that all students are picked up by 4:30 if they do not have after school activities. If you will be running later than 4:30, please contact the office. Thank you.

Schedule Changes

Please know that we are working diligently to ensure all of our students have the right classes. When it comes to schedule changes, we will do our best to accommodate any reasonable request. Please note that we do not accept schedule change requests for specific teachers or so that students can be in classes with friends.

Campus Visitors

At this time we are planning to be fully open for campus visitors during the 23-24 school year. If you wish to eat lunch with your student, you are welcome to check in at the office and come to the cafeteria during their lunch time. Please do not drop off fast food for your student. If you have fast food, please come in and enjoy it with your student.

Free Food

For the 2023-2024 school year, all students in 5th and 6th grade will receive a free breakfast and a free lunch each day. There is no paperwork to complete for your child to receive their free meals. Please make sure your child knows his or her student number to take advantage of this incredible deal.

Checking Out Early

Please be aware that our final bell rings at 4:00 PM. While we understand that sometimes doctor's appointments have to be scheduled late in the day or emergencies may come up, we would ask that all changes to transportation be made before 3:20 PM. Our primary goal is to ensure that students get home safely each day. Late changes to transportation can cause confusion and may create an unsafe situation. The front office staff at PTMS thanks you for your attention to this matter.

Checking Out Library Books Online

Logging in to Student Emails

Students will need to be able to log in to their emails. Here is how to log in:

Go to Google.com

Look in the upper right hand corner for the gmail log in.

Google accounts for Prek-6th Grade will be studentID@ptisd.org for the account.

PTMS highly recommends changing your password upon log in to something easy to remember. Write your name, student ID number, and password on an index card and give that information to your first period teacher. This will help to keep your account secure.

Attendance

Attendance is a key component to student success. By law, students are required to have at least 90% attendance in a course to receive credit. In reality, we need them here as much as possible. However, must also take certain precautions when students exhibit symptoms of not feeling well. If you feel like your child is sick, please take them to the doctor and get a note to return to school.

Arrival and Departure Information

The front doors open for car riders at 7:00 am. Please do not leave children unattended prior to 7:00 as this presents an unsafe environment.

Bus doors will open at 7:45 am.

The school day ends at 4:00 pm.
