From the Principal
As we say goodbye to April, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our amazing community for the support of our school's Drama Club. Last week, our students performed Aladdin Kids in front of a packed house. It was such a memorable performance for the entire community. I am humbled by the dedication of the students and staff, and it makes me proud to see our children's passion come alive when they are invested in what is happening at school.
In turning the calendar to the month of May, we have so many fun events planned. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please join me in celebrating the outstanding teachers at OES. Although May is also a time when students prepare for end-of-year assessments, we do not want this to cause undo stress and anxiety either. You can help this by just reassuring your child to help them feel confident. A good night's rest and a nutritious breakfast at home or school help children immensely.

Many of you have probably heard of the Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir, located in Harrisonburg. Auditions for the 2018-19 school year are now being scheduled. Auditions for children and young people in second through twelfth grades can be arranged by calling 540-432-4650. There is also a group called the Explorers. This is a non-audition chorus for children aged five to eight.
If your child enjoys singing, and wants to learn more while working with a group of young people who share their interest, The SVCC may be just what they will enjoy.
You can find them online by going to www.svcc.org.
