Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
"On my own, I’m only half of what I could be" - Blake Shelton
This week’s quote is brought to us by our 8th-grade math teacher, Mrs. Messineo. The quote relates so well to the partnerships and relationships we build at O’Neill Middle School. Relationships are the foundation of learning and without a strong relationship, it is difficult to be our best self.
As Senators, we are privileged to be part of such a wonderful community that strives on building relationships. “Middle school isn’t easy” how many times have we said that? One way we have seen our students find success at the middle school level is through relationships. O’Neill believes the foundation for our students starts with the relationship between our school and our Senator families. When we work together through communication, problem-solving, and understanding, we have our students thrive. That strong relationship allows us to hold students accountable to high standards while also practicing grace when we are made aware of difficulties a Senator student may be experiencing.
Another part of the middle school experience is the relationships our Senator students build with their peers. We have all seen that this can be difficult at times for our students which is why we partner with our families and students to help them navigate the twists and turns of social situations in middle school. Knowing when to help and knowing when to take a step back and let our students learn to navigate themselves can be tricky at times but it is such a powerful moment when we see students work together to build or repair their relationships.
We can all benefit from some alone time and from being independent, but that doesn’t mean we have to do it on our own or that we’re better on our own. The relationships we build, are what make us who we are in the end. Relationships build us up, they can teach us lessons, and they can support us. This is how we become the whole person.
As always, if you have any additional questions you are welcome to call the main office (630) 719-5815 between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday - Friday.
Have a great weekend!
