A School to Emulate

Memorial Elementary Bobcat Bulletin 1-4 through 1-8-16

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Welcome Back! I hope you all had a nice long break and are rejuvenated for the 2nd semester. The time will fly by and it will be June before we know it. We have plenty of work to do. The good news is we are equipped to do it!

Congratulations to each of our Teacher of the Year Finalists - Elizabeth Driver, Michelle Janah, Betty Koonce, Mirthis Poppe, & Seema Shah. We are so proud of our Teacher of the Year Seema Shah!!!

Please be sure to review and practice the procedures & expectations. Everyone has been out of the routine for a while and it will take us a few days to get back into the swing of things.

All staff return on Monday (1-4-16). This is a professional development day. We will be meeting, but I tried to arranged the schedule to give you as much time in your classrooms to prepare as I could. The hours are 8 - 4:30 pm. However, we have Momentous training at the Academy HS from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. You are free to leave after the training. Breakfast has not been confirmed so please be sure to fill your bellies before we begin in the morning. The agenda can be found in the Memorial Staff Folder and Staff Meeting Agendas subfolder. Or, click the link for access to the agenda. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VMfsnnCOglaUedTn6LkHZKZocozuERFkKuWS1DKJRMI/edit#heading=h.fz0mg03me9vk

Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the Bobcat Visioning and Monday PDH surveys. In preparation for our meeting on Monday (1/4) please take a moment to review the survey results. You will notice that I highlighted information on the visioning survey to help you analyze the responses. The survey results can be found in the Memorial Staff Folder and Survey subfolder. Or click the links below to access the results.

There are still a couple of grade levels who do not have staff listed for Saturday school. Saturday school is an expectation and based on our most current MAP scores we have several students who are in great need of the extra support. Our 1st Saturday school session is January 9th and any professional staff who has not yet signed up to support Saturday school should do so. All campus leaders have access to the Saturday school schedule in the Campus Leadership Folder. Please see a campus leader if you need information about available dates and grade levels.

As we begin 2016 please take some time to update student work displays around the building. It is awesome to see the great work students are producing. Keep em coming.

This is a reminder that "unknown" district personnel will enter the building using doors other than the main entrance. They will see how much of the building they can access before being addressed by staff and escorted to the main office. We got this!

Thanks everyone and let's have a wonderful week before break!

That's HILARIOUS! Send your funnies my way...

Kudos

Elizabeth, Michelle, Betty, Mirthis, & Seema for representing Memorial as our Teacher of the Year finalist. Seema voted our 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year! Bev & Anna for taking the time to write the proposal for our Immigrant Grant.
