Dear Shark Families:

We are really looking forward to our Fun Run on Thursday! I am amazed by the generosity of our Spring Mills Families. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported our school. We are able to provide so many extras for students as a result. We appreciate you!

Reminder - our Fun Run Times are listed below in the next section.

As you know, we spent a lot of time talking and showing students our expectations all around the school. This is a big part of our culture here - making sure our expectations for behavior all around the building are clear. Students can also now earn Sharky Stars for positive behavior, and each week a winner is drawn from all grade levels. Students will then get to choose a prize. We will also have Students of the Month, nominated by building staff. Our first Shark Superstars of the Month will be announced next week.

In addition, we have worked on our progressive discipline system. Please take a look at the chart below. This explains all that we are doing to help our students before you would hear from me. The goal is to provide students multiple opportunities to make better choices. Obviously, if safety is a concern as a result of behavior, it will come right to me. Please see the graphic below for details.

We hope you enjoy the weekend, and for our little Mavs out there - hope you enjoy the homecoming festivities!

Have a terrific weekend,

Sarah Bentley, Principal

Safety and Security

For the safety and well-being of our students, Huron Valley Schools have a firm expectation when it comes to identifying the visitors we have inside the buildings. When you are coming in the building during instruction hours, you must ring into the office, show your ID and state the reason for your visit. Even if we have seen you several times and even if we know you very well, we are still required to ask you for your ID. We ask that you please be prepared with your identification each and every time you come in to the building during school hours. Please share this expectation with anyone on your student's emergency contact list. We appreciate your support of these requirements.

You can call our 24-HOUR ATTENDANCE LINE AT 248-684-8086 for all attendance related calls. Please state your child's first and last name and reason for absence.

Attendance is an important component in a student’s education. If we do not hear from you regarding your student's absence, it is our policy to call to verify your student’s absence.

Please do not send your child back to school until they have been vomit-free, diarrhea-free, or fever-free for 24 hours.

If your child(ren) will be absent for an extended period of time, please make sure to complete a pre-arranged absence form available from the office or on our website under Parent Resources.
