High Levels of Learning...Every Student...Every Day!

End of Year Closeout Information

As we prepare to closeout the 2019-2020 school year, we are deeply saddened we will not be able to see our students again before the school year ends. As much as we wish this wasn't our reality, we understand we must take the necessary precautions to remain safe and healthy.

In order to return items to our students, we have arranged dates/times to facilitate the process. During this time, we will also be collecting library books, literacy readers, and any books teachers may have allowed students to borrow. If there are any medications students still have at school, Nurse Sharpe will also be on campus to give these back to parents. We are asking all parents to follow the schedule below.

Monday, May 11 9:00-11:00am or 1:00-3:00pm - Car Riders, Campus Kids, Day Care

Friday, May 15 9:00-11:00am or 1:00-3:00pm - Bus Riders

Student items will be picked up in the front of the school. Items needing to be returned will also be returned in the front of the school. Medications will be picked up by the cafeteria (side of the school). In order to expedite the process, we are asking all parents to display a sign in their windshield with the information shown below (student name(s), grade level(s), etc). Also, please see the map below for additional information on where items will be picked up and dropped off.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Although we are unable to celebrate our teachers face-to-face, we want to acknowledge them and thank them for all they do for our students. As our students are at home learning this week, please take time to send teachers a quick thank you note for all they have done and continue to do to ensure our students are successful. #thankateacher

Online Art Gallery

The Online Art Slideshow has artwork from grades K-4 that have been worked on throughout the past few weeks of our Remote Learning. It is a wonderful showcase of the creativity and hard work that our students are continuing to have throughout our online experience. The art gallery really shows the persistence and dedication our kiddos have to learning and creating. The students also have been commenting on each others artwork, sharing incredibly uplifting, encouraging and kind words to each other. Please click on the link below to view their artwork!

Thanks from our PE Coaches!

The PE coaches would like to thank the students and families for the effort in completing their online learning assignments. In this international pandemic it has become clear that our Wildwood Families are resilient in balancing work, school, and family life. The number one thing you and your family can do if you are feeling overwhelmed is to take care of your health. Enjoy a family bike ride, walk, or other healthy activity to take your mind off of all the everyday stress of Stay at Home Orders. For Coach Dunne and Coach Elder this would have been our first class of students that we have taught at WES from K-4 (all five years). We encourage those students to carry on all that they have learned next year into the 5th grade. We will truly miss you!!

PTO Elections

Due to our current circumstances with the closure of school for the remainder of the year, PTO elections of officers will be postponed until the fall of 2020. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to continued partnership and success in the future.

Tomball ISD Continues to Offer Free Curbside Meal Service for All Students

Tomball ISD will continue to offer a free curbside meal service for all TISD students from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at Tomball High School.

A new traffic pattern has been implemented for our meal service pick-up at THS and will need to be followed in order to serve as many families as possible during this time frame.

Please make sure and provide your student’s ID# upon pick-up. If you do not know your student’s ID#, we will assist you. Non-TISD students under the age of 18 can receive meals, but they must be present.

Menu items are at the mercy of the supply and subject to change during the COVID pandemic. Items will be Grab & Go style breakfast and lunch.

How long is school closed?

School is closed for the remainder of the school year and TISD will continue with remote learning.

How much time should my child spend engaged in essential engagement activities this week?

Students should be spending 45 minutes a day or less OR 225 minutes or less a week engaged in ESSENTIAL/GRADED engagement activities each week. Only 4 core content areas include ESSENTIAL activities. Only one grade per content area will be recorded. Students will not be penalized for having limited or no access.

All other engagement activities should be noted as OPTIONAL.

What do we do if our child(ren) do not have access to devices or the internet at home?

First, know it is okay. We are aware that some of our TISD students have limited/no access to a device and/or a wi-fi internet connection. Please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible and let them know that your child does not have access to a device or a wi-fi internet connection. At this point we are gathering this information and creating an inventory of needs so that we know the best way to support our students.

Do each of my children need their own device?

No. The remote learning plan was developed intentionally to accommodate multiple children sharing a device. Activities will be presented at the beginning of the week and students have the entire week to complete them.

What about Specials classes (Art, Music, PE)?

Specials teachers will post OPTIONAL activities in their Google Classrooms in which families may participate at their convenience.

What devices can my child use to access engagement activities this week?

Students may use any device with internet connection including a cell phone, tablet, laptop, chromebook, desktop, and even some gaming systems.

Is Mrs. Huggins, our Counselor, available to support our child(ren)?

Yes. Mrs. Huggins, Mrs. Gonzalez, Mrs. Sebesta, Nurse Sharpe and Dr. Shaughnessy are all back on duty and ready to support our Wildcats! Simply email them and they will be glad to help.
