This week at the pool...

7/5 - 7/10

Our mini-Olympians

The Kemp Mill Kangaroos will host the Forest Knolls Seahawks on Wednesday (7/6). The pool will close early at 5 p.m. to accommodate the event.

This is the last Wednesday home meet for the team. Stay after your day's dip and enjoy dinner at the Kangaroo Kafe while watching our children swim their best!

The 'Roos also have their last home Saturday meet at our pool this weekend (7/9) against the Flower Hill Whales. The pool will open late at 1 p.m. so that the team has enough time to clear the decks before we arrive.

Master 'Roos will not practice Friday night (7/8) to allow the Nightcrawlers to rest and their coaches to prepare for the meet. The rollicking division Relay Carnival also is this weekend at West Hillandale. 'Roo alum and their parents are encouraged to go watch the team compete!

Looking for 'Roo alumni

Speaking of 'Roo alumni, the pool is trying to organize a party for young adult former team members in the area for Saturday, July 30, probably starting at 7 or 8 p.m. and ending after the pool closes.

Perhaps you know of a former 'Roo home from college for the summer? Or a recent 'Roo college graduate who has settled in the area? We're trying to collect emails so that we can invite them for an evening of fun with old friends at the pool. If you have emails you can share, please send them to

We haven't worked out all the details for this event, but there will be a cover charge. We're thinking of making a keg or two of beer available and asking everyone to bring something for a traditional swim team Spaghetti Dinner on the pool deck.

The party's host is Tommy Gibeilly.

Another Ladies Night is in the works

We're preparing for another Ladies Night on Thursday, July 14, 7-10 p.m. But it need one or two volunteers to plan and host it!

Please contact Sherri Spritzer at if you can take on that role.

The plans call for the pool to close to non-party goers at 8:45 p.m. as usual. Cost: $5.00 for members; $7.00 for non-members. No free coupons accepted.

Partygoers should bring a salad, appetizer, or dessert to share. Soft drinks will be provided. Please also bring your own wine or beer.

We need at least 15 people to register for this event to be a go.

Here comes dinner!

The next Pizza Night at the Pool is this Sunday (7/10), 5-7 p.m.

We’ll have pizza available again from Ben Yehuda while everyone’s rafting in the pool.

You can order a full pizza ahead of time in the office until Friday, or pay by credit card or cash on deck: $18 for a whole pizza; $5 for two slices; $3 for one slice. Soft drinks also will be available from the Snack Bar.

Our Pizza Nights have been a rollicking success so far this year, although last week’s bad weather was a near thing. Many thanks to Sherri Spritzer, our Socials Committee chair who has been organizing all of these events!

But she could use some help selling the pizza on deck for an hour or two at each event. Upcoming dates this month: Sundays, July 17, 24 and 31.

If you can volunteer, please go to our SignUp Genius here and pick a date.
