HomeLink May Newsletter

Hello HomeLink Families,

I hope you are all doing well. Can you believe that the end of the year is just around the corner? This year has been quite the year for all! We here at HomeLink want to thank you again for being such amazing parent partners/guardians to work with, especially during this pandemic! We appreciate all that you do :) There is a lot of information to cover for May. Please take a moment to review this information, as we have some great information around the enrollment process for next school year. Wishing you all the best!

Kind regards,

Angela Menon

Associate Principal/HomeLink

Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7th

I am so excited to share that the week of May 3rd is teacher appreciation week! We have amazing teachers with us at HomeLink and I am really excited to celebrate them all! If you would like to send an email or note of appreciation to your teacher(s), please do not hesitate to do so :) I know how much they enjoy working with each and every one of our students and families.

Just a friendly reminder that we are still seeking new PAC members to join our committee for the 2021-2022 school year.

The 2021-22 class schedule is going through the final review process. Course descriptions and class schedule will be posted to the HomeLink website on May 17th. Students will pre-register for classes via a Google Form to their school email beginning Monday, May 24th. Currently enrolled HomeLink students will have priority registration.

Out-of-District Families

If you live outside of the Lake Stevens School District, be sure to renew your Choice Transfer Request with your resident district. Lake Stevens will begin the approval process on May 15th. Annual renewal is required.

2021-22 School Year Enrollment Forms

Most families received enrollment packets at the March materials distribution, if you did not receive them, they are available to pick up in the office or download off of the HomeLink website.

Returning Students

New Students and New students of returning families

If you are enrolling a new student, please stop in to pick up District and ALE packets or download the registration forms from the HomeLink website. All new student registration paperwork, including Certificate of immunization and if applicable to your child, valid exemption , can be turned into the HomeLink office in person, emailed to the registrar, or US postal service 8220 24th ST SE, Lake Stevens, 98258. New students are eligible to pre-register only if registration paperwork is returned by May 21st.

Emergency Care Plans/Health Forms

Health care plans need to be reviewed and updated annually, usually with a doctor signature. If you are planning a visit to the doctor over the summer please take the required paperwork with you to obtain signatures prior to the start of school. All required forms are available on the main district website. If your student is no longer needing a health care plan please send Jen McPhee an email or provide a note stating that information so it can be forwarded to the school nurse. These forms will need to be on file to start classes on September 1st 2021.

May is Mindfulness Month

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.

Our HomeLink Counselor, Mckenzie Harsin, has created a great informational sheet on Mindfulness below.
