Reading in the Content Area of Science

Comprehension

We have been reading, asking questions and determining importance through the learning of the Rainforest. We have discovered the layers of the Rainforest and the many different kinds of animals and insects that live in the Rainforest and which layer they live in. We have also discovered the many good things that come from the Rainforest such as medicine, chocolate, gum, and lots of food. We learned the scientific word, Biome.

Next week we will focus our learning on the impact of humans on the land, water, air, and living things through this unit. Then we will begin to discover and communicate solutions that will help to reduce the impact of humans on the land.

Poetry Writing

We are still writing our poetry pieces. We have been working on our 5 senses poems. Next week we will begin writing color poems.

During our Word Study time, we practice writing sentences. Last week, one of our kiddos wrote the following sentence after Mother's Day. I thought it was so cute, that I had to snap a picture to share.
