Counselor's Corner
Our Good Character word this month is Empathy – and our students and staff will be learning and practicing Empathy by trying to understand how another person is feeling, and responding to that. This could be as simple as saying, ‘you look unhappy – are you okay?’, or ‘wow, you look happy – what’s up?’ This is an important step in being a good friend, too, to understand how someone else might be feeling, before we say or do something. Our students will be learning about Empathy in their classroom guidance lessons this month, and practicing what to say or do to show Empathy
Friday, October 11th will be our Career Vehicle Day for students in K4 through 2nd grade. This fun, outdoor event helps our students learn about different jobs by seeing the vehicles that are used for these jobs…. Students will see up-close the sheriff’s cruiser, the blacksmith’s tools, road paving trucks, a mobile pet groomer, the EMS ambulance and many more interesting jobs with vehicles! We have a couple more spots available parents, so if your job has a vehicle, please let me know to save you a spot! This event runs from 9:00 am until 10:30 am.
The end of October brings Red Ribbon Week to Tigerville – when our students learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, without drugs. Students can participate in the dress-up theme everyday, wear their red ribbons everyday for prizes, and many more fun, learning activities throughout the week.

Art Lines
I am still waiting on that fall crisp air to tell us that October is finally here! Fall brings seasonal bliss to the senses! Our eyes show us the lovely reds, deep purples, and golds on the leaves and fields around us. The scent of smoke, campfires, and apple cider whiffs through our sense of smell. We hear the sounds of dried leaves crunching beneath our feet and the cheers of our favorite sports teams doing battle on the football field! We feel the shiver of a cold breeze as it leaves frost on the pumpkins! Fall is such a wonderful time of year to enjoy the beauty of changing seasons. In the art room, we are about ready to send our Original Works master pieces in for our annual art department fund raiser. This time of year has become a bit of a tradition as parents have their favorite selections they enjoy purchasing each year for treasured memories. One of the favorite items has become the quilt square. Several moms have shared how they intend to sew these into a quilt for their children after their special time at Tigerville comes to an end for their fifth grade year! So many wonderful products are available including some new ones for this year! We have a very nice apron, a small easel with the art work to display, and a new personal planner as just a few of the new offerings. Be on the look-out for fundraiser magnets to be sent home in the middle of October. These special art gifts make wonderful Christmas gifts and hold special memories of your child preserved at this age and grade level. Be on the look-out for fundraiser magnets to be sent home in the middle of October. Arrival of purchased products are currently scheduled for delivery by the first week of December!!
The art department wishes to welcome the following new members to StrongARTS INK! Art Club! Our first meeting is Thursday, October 3rd with further October dates on Thursday, October 17th, and also the 31st.
