Dear Silver Springs Families,
Do you have questions about how to help your child (ren) with math homework? You may be interested in a Parent Math 101 session we are offering with our District Math Consultant/Coach, Dr. Carrie Zielinski at Silver Springs on Wednesday, March 15th. She has set aside a block of time from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM to meet with parents to review some of the math strategies we use when teaching students mathematics in Northville. We hope to see you there!

BIRTHDAY LUNCHES
The Birthday Lunch program is a fun way to celebrate your child’s special day and the funds raised from this program directly benefit PTA programs. Win-win!
To sign up and select your date, parents may submit a request form and a donation (any amount) to the PTA. Or, it’s even easier to sign up and donate online.
On your child’s day, you can come and join them for lunch! Some parents choose to bring a special lunch or a treat.
You get to sit at the Birthday Lunch table near the MPR, which will be decorated with a tablecloth and birthday napkins.
🗓 Please sign up for this program at least two weeks in advance!
✅ Book as soon as possible to get your spot, even if your requested date is later in the year. The schedule fills up fast!
☎️ Also, if you need to cancel due to illness, etc., please notify Kate Rundell at silverspringspta@gmail.com. Our volunteers arrange their schedule to be there and it’s very frustrating to have a no-show.

LEADER IN ME FOCUS FOR THE MONTH - HABIT 5 Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
We will focus on Habit 5 throughout the entire month of March.
The Learning At Home Activity is below. This will go home in Monday envelopes and as well as in the Eagle Express. It would be great if you could mention it to your students!
March At Home Activity
This month’s Habit: HABIT 5 Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
Activity: Listen Before You Talk!
Due Date: March 20th
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
Great Books for Habit #5-Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Alejandro’s Gift by Richard E. Albert
The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
