All of the lines are aligned to the left. In a block letter:

- and usually, for are for formatting business letters and memos

In a Hanging Indent, all of the lines of text are indented except the first line. The first line is left aligned, and the res of the lines are indented. This type of format is usually used for citing bibliography sources.
