The student identifies, describes a preferred community helper, and explains its importance to the community in the final product of the unit. The student uses reading strategies to comprehend the reading and reflect on the topics of the unit. Phonics: Break multisyllabic words into syllables. Identify initial and final sounds in simple words. Phonetics: Decode words with the letter “h” which is silent and digraphs made up of consonants, such as “ch”, “rr” and “ll”
Last but not least, we want to reinforce our mantra of the power of play. Kindergarten is a time of great academic development. It is also a time when children form and solidify connections with their peers, develop social skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate their observations and thoughts. Play is an integral part of our day, as it nurtures social and emotional development.
