November 2021 Parent Liaison Newsletter
Hello Families!
We hope you will spend time browsing our latest parent liaison newsletter as it contains valuable educational information. This month we are excited to inform you about the exciting things going on districtwide at many of our campuses. Please check with your child's campus about when they are putting on their exciting Veterans Day Program.
Home is the First School
Teaching starts at home first. As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher and your home is your child’s first classroom. To help your child develop a desire for learning early on try encouraging healthy exploration, embrace their curiosity and continually allow them to learn about new things through inquiry. Frequently have conversations with your child to get them actively thinking about different concepts. More importantly, promote reading and writing through various activities such as poetry, plays, musicals, and by using educationally based toys. Additionally, by initiating literacy activities, you will instill in your child a passion for reading and learning.

Guardian Program
Residents with special needs family members can have peace of mind during times of crisis thanks to the Burleson Police Department’s new Guardian Program.
The Guardian Program is a voluntary, and free, registry for those who may be unable to communicate basic personal information due to a diagnosed cognitive disorder, or are prone to wander away or run away from guardians, home, or school due to a diagnosed medical disorder. Special needs include Autism, Alzheimer's, dementia, or some other mental/intellectual disability.
How does the Guardian Program make a difference? If a special needs child or adult goes missing and is reported by the parent or guardian, information about physical appearance, the most likely places where he or she would go to, as well as triggers, stimulants, and de-escalation techniques will be available to every first responder in the area who is looking for the missing person.
