October is National Principals Month at WAVA

Take time to say thank you to our WAVA Principal and team! They work hard each day for all of our students and our community. This month we will honor our Principals and Assistant Principals, students and families can send them special message on our WAVA Principal Padlet Board!

This month WAVA and Stride recognize Anti-Bullying month, #powerofone. If you have a story you want to share about stepping up against bullying or how we can work together as one, please share! October Community Engagement News

At WAVA we want to connect with students and believe that all student can succeed. In addition to connection in the classroom through academics, student support, class connect sessions and learning platforms students can connect on their own time for community engagement. Club options for Stride can be found on the OLS Announcements and the Class Connect Schedule. WAVA Clubs will be on the WAVA Bulletin at https://www.wavabulletinboard.com/esports-and-clubs. Clubs may include options in Gaming, Art, Baking, Student Leadership, ASB, GLSEN, Social Chats and Esports. In addition to clubs students can participate in photo competitions, cooking or Lego Challenges and more. Clubs begin in September and continue through June each year and then Summer Clubs and Activities are offered.

WAVA Outings and Events:

At WAVA our community is our families and students, and we provide connection opportunities for students to stay engaged. Throughout the year students can attend outings to meet families, students and staff. Regional outings, picnics, virtual events and field trip opportunities will be offered throughout the year. Events will vary and may include:

  • October: National Principal Month, Oct 6th Family Mental Heath Night 5pm Register Now WAVA Anti-Bullying Month (wear blue on Oct 7th and orange on Oct 21st and share your story), Student Art Contest (Draw a Sudsley the Orca Pod Photo and submit to our WAVA Padlet with your name and grade between Oct 11-29), Fall Celebrations , Mindful Mondays begin, Costume Day October 28th

  • November: Thankful Week, Spirit Gear Sales, Music Night, PJ Day

  • December: Spelling Bee Sign-Ups, Holiday Celebrations, December Break Clubs

  • January: Cultural Fair, Spelling Bee Prep, Hat Day

  • February: Spelling Bee, Friendship Day, Spirit Gear sales round 2, WAVA Day

  • March: Science Fair, Leprechaun Trap Contest, Green Day

  • April: Talent Show, Spring Break Clubs, Creative Hair Day

  • May: Photo Contest, Graduation Promo, Prom, Clubs end, Sunglasses Day

  • June: Graduation, End of Year Staff Parade, Summer Clubs and Activities Promo

Tutor Me for WAVA

Check it out! We are excited to partner with TutorMe to provide resources and tools in support to our Middle School and High School Age students. This service will be available to students soon and will provide skilled tutoring support in moments to your students 24 hours a day! Connect with a Tutor this month for your 8 hours of tutoring time and Dance Your Way to Prizes!!!

Testing:

We are looking forward to seeing our students in grades 4-12 this October when we meet for Smarter Balanced and WCAS state testing. Information has been sent home, including your child's schedule and details, thank you for your patience and support. Out top priority is always your students health and safety and we will follow all state guidelines to ensure a successful and safe testing experience for your learner.
