Safety First - NEW Student Symptom Decision Tree and Return-to-School Procedures

As part of our continued efforts to promote safety for our students, staff, and our communities and in close alignment with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the District has developed a new protocol to follow when students are ill with possible COVID-19 symptoms. Please review the NLMUSD Student Symptom Decision Tree and Return-to-School Guidance documents by clicking this link.

Here are some highlights:

  • Starting on Monday, November 1, 2021, students who have one (1) or more Group A symptoms or two (2) or more Group B symptoms must stay home or be sent home (if they are already at school). Note: Group A symptoms have been determined by health experts to be most prevalent among children diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Parents/Guardians need to select one of the following options before their student can return to school:
    1. Take student to a medical provider
      • If the doctor confirms symptoms are unrelated to COVID-19, student can return to school within 10 days with a doctor’s note/clearance.
    2. Have student take an approved COVID-19 test
      • If negative, student can return within the 10-day isolation period.
      • If positive, student must stay home and isolate for at least 10 days.
    3. Keep student home for 10 days
      • A COVID-19 test or a doctor’s note are not required to return on Day 11 or after.
  • Parents will return the completed Return-to-School Guidance document to indicate which option they chose and attach a doctor’s note (for Option 1) or a copy of the negative test (for Option 2). Option 3 does not require documentation; however, student cannot return until Day 11 of isolation at the earliest.
  • For all three options, the student must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours and have improved symptoms.

Hello Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to announce that meals are FREE to ALL students for the 2021-2022 School Year.

  • We encourage all families to submit a meal application, if you usually qualify, as it provides additional educational funding for your school and benefits for your household. It will also ensure your student is covered for free meals the first 30 days of school for the 2022/2023 school year to avoid meal charges.
    • Eligibility guidelines can be found on www.yourchew.com, in the upper left corner, under meal applications.
    • Note - You do not need to complete a meal application if you have already received a letter indicating that your student has been directly certified.

September Menus:

Please view our menus online at www.yourchew.com for nutritional information.

Important Menu Update:

Last minute menu changes may occur frequently and are out of our control due to the nationwide food supply chain issues and labor shortages.

Menus on our website may not reflect these changes.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
