Apple Valley High School is hosting a Regional College Fair on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 4:30pm – 6:00pm. You will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from over 100 area colleges/universities, community and technical colleges, professional schools and military organizations. This event is sponsored by the Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors (MACAC). List of schools attending HERE
Attendance at the fair is free! You can gather literature, ask questions and learn more about options. Students can pre-register for the fair at https://app.strivescan.com/students and receive a barcode that representatives can scan.

Eagan Foundation Scholarship- Application Due 2/24/23
The Eagan Community Foundation scholarship application process is open for one more week! The application will close the evening of February 24th. We expect to have about 115 scholarships totaling over $125,000. Students can learn more about the process and apply here: https://www.eaganfoundation.org/apply-for-a-scholarship
Every student is encouraged to submit an application! Awards are based on a variety of criteria including community involvement, those with military parents, those who have persevered through hardships in life, participation in sports and school activities, academic merit and financial need. Only scholarships that are based on financial need require a copy of the front page of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA. Be sure and file your FAFSA by the scholarship deadline.
Scholarships are sponsored by a variety of local businesses, school organizations, family foundations and nonprofits. The Foundation’s Scholarship Program has awarded over 2,200 scholarships totaling more than $2 million in the past 31 years. Applications will be accepted until February 24, 2023. American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Boys State
The American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Boys State is a program in government and good citizenship for young men sponsored by the Minnesota American Legion. (ALA)
ALA Minnesota Boys state is a practical training program in local state government in which selected boys participate in actual learning experiences. We attempt to (1) illustrate to the boys the principles of representative form of government, (2) arouse an enduring interest in governmental affairs. Boys State is a functional practice of democratic activities. Every boy for whom application is made to boys state must be sponsored by an American Legion Post. The Daniel R. Olsen Post # 594 in Eagan can sponsor at least one applicant.
Minnesota Boys State will be held June 11th to June 17th, 2023 at Saint John's University Campus. Boy Staters will report on campus starting at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 11th and will start to organize soon after arrival, and the program will close after breakfast on Saturday, June 17 at approximately 9:00 AM. Boys state is open to all boys regardless of race, color or national origin. Only students finishing their junior year of high school, and who will be seniors in the following term of school are eligible to participate in Boys Sate.

Project Prom- Free Prom Dresses
When: March 25, 26, 31 & April 1 & 2
Where: An empty store at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes (The girls will truly feel like they have a traditional prom dress shopping experience!)
Who: Any young woman who’s attending prom is welcome!

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Army ROTC program is hosting an Open House on March 1st, 2023, from 4:30-6:30pm for all prospective students, parents, counselors, faculty, and those interested in learning more about the UMN AROTC program. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from the University of Minnesota Army ROTC program and adjacent faculty about scholarships, the admission process, opportunities throughout the program, and more. We will also have specialty career advisors from both the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves to provide guidance and information for those interested in career fields in healthcare, law, engineering, cyber/computer systems, and more. Our UMN ROTC staff will be able to provide advice and recommendations for how students can strengthen their applications to become more competitive and earn a 3- or 4- year Army ROTC Scholarship and serve as a commissioned Army officer.
The ROTC Open House will take place at the Arden Hills Army Training Site located at 4761 Hamline Avenue S. Arden Hills, MN 55412. Check-in for students will be at 4:30pm, and counselors and staff are more than welcome to sit in on information sessions and briefings from our ROTC, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve staff at 5:30pm.

Tobacco Free Society
The Tobacco-Free Society (TFS) is focused on reducing youth commercial tobacco use across Dakota County. Our work is also focused on tobacco prevention advocacy which includes engaging in local and state level tobacco prevention policy efforts to improve health outcomes and disparities.

College/Military Visits
The admission representatives that visit Eagan high school are the same people that review college applications. Students can view these visits by logging into their Naviance Student account. Students should register on Naviance for both virtual AND/OR in person college visits. Registration instructions video. The registration in Naviance is the pass to leave class. If registering for a virtual visit during the school day, students should bring their iPad and earbuds to the counseling office to log-on for the visit. College visits are added daily, so students are encouraged to log into Naviance to see updates.
