Initial First Instruction
Ever new week allows a fresh start. No matter how difficult or challenging last week was, our Monday fresh start allows us to regroup, plan ahead, and make strides of impact. If last week presented obstacles that were unexpected, we should learn from them, adjust our course if needed, and move forward. If last week presented major successes, we should celebrate those, continue the areas of positive impact, and continue to move forward in the right direction!
In continuing in the right direction and to reduce the 'intervention needed' and 'multiple skill gaps' for our students, our Initial First Instruction must be powerful, engaging, and intentional. The more powerful our initial instruction is, the less need for targeted intervention is required. With less intervention needed, then we gain more time to give towards on-level differentiated instruction and make above average gains. In order to make our initial instruction powerful, we must be aligned, engaging, dynamic, and planned ahead\intentional.
We have only 8 more Instructional Days before our Common Assessment Week. Lets plan ahead, be engaging, and use them wisely!
Onward!

Junior Achievement
7th Week in Review
Our 4 Day weeks can be challenging - we must prepare to deliver 5 days worth of quality teaching into 4, as well as manage student behavior that changes due to the schedule change. Make the days count!
We had an amazing Parent Conference Night. These opportunities are critical in maintaining positive relationships with our parents that will pay dividends in the future!
After the 2nd Common Assessment is completed, we are looking forward to updating the Data Wall in our Main Hallway to show the excellent work and acceleration our kids are making. They depend on us.
The Road to Success - Where to improve
As we draw closer to our 2nd Common Assessment, we should constantly be looking at ways to improve. If our RoadMap is accurate, then where are the high priority areas for the classroom? Initial First Instruction is our most powerful asset that drives student success; so how can we prepare to deliver that instruction at higher levels?
- Implementation of a Classroom Positive Behavior Program (SEL, Relationships)
- HALLs campus initiative implemented Daily
- Backwards Planning (using Common Assessment, ACP, STAAR; to plan instruction)
- Planned Lessons (from TEKS -> Instructional Calendar -> ACP/STAAR)
- Quality Instructional Activities and DOLs
- Targeted Frontloading and Interventions
- Intentional Small Groups using Data
- Classroom Data Wall - Student Accountability
- Student Rigorous Work (and posted in Hallways/Classrooms as examples)
