RO Writes Together
RO has created a fun writing challenge for students called "United We Write." The directions provided to students on this writing challenge are as follows:
You are the future of the United States of America. If you were allowed to run for President of the United States, what ideas would you share with the American people about how to continue to make our country better?
Your writing challenge is to share your idea (or ideas) about what is most important for our country to grow and to support your idea(s) with facts and evidence.
A strong paragraph presents an idea (or in this case, an opinion) and then includes 3 - 5 facts or evidence to support that idea. That’s how we write!
Mr. Getchell, Mr. Aries and Mr. Hill (along with your teachers) will only accept your very BEST writing. You will need to pre-write, draft, revise, edit and rewrite your essay before handing it in. We will hang only your best writing on a bulletin board, in our lobby, along with your picture so our school community can read your ideas! This writing can be passed in to your child's teacher anytime between now and November 3.
Google Meet/ Attendance Reminders
Here are a few reminders:
- All students are expected to be logged on to their Google Meet at 8:25. Students logging on after 8:40am are marked 'virtually absent'.
- Parents should not log onto their child's Google Meet when their child is in school.
- If a parent is assisting their child at home, on a Google Meet, please make sure you are fully dressed. We have had a few dads assist their child without a shirt on.
Finally, if your child is expected to be in school for in-person learning, and your child is healthy, fever-free with no cold/flu symptoms, your child SHOULD be in school. We are noticing that some of our students scheduled to be in school are choosing to stay home because they missed the bus, overslept, or were away on vacation. Our teachers are planning materials and lessons with the expectation of certain students being home and certain students being in school. When a student is expected to be in school, and the student choses to stay home, that student may not have the necessary materials to fully participate in his/her learning.
Parking and Pick Up
We dismiss all third graders at 1:00pm, so we ask that third grade parents arrive first and try to be in the front of the car line. Fourth and fifth graders are dismissed between 1:05 - 1:10pm.
Flu Vaccine
Please click on the following link for information on the flu vaccine since it is now a requirement for school-age children.
