DPM Newsletter - 1.6.23
Friday, January 6, 2023
Dear DPM Families,
It was great having everyone back in the building for our first week of school together in 2023! Students and staff returned rested and ready to dive back into learning. We have a lot to look forward to for the second half of the year, including our Spirit of 67 sponsored fine arts performances, spring sports, Band, Orchestra and Choir concerts continuing, and all of the exciting end-of-the-year events! Can you believe we’re thinking about that already?! Believe it or not, soon we will start our transition process for our graduating 8th graders and shortly after welcoming our 4th graders for Buddy Day. It is an exciting time to be a Deer Path Brave!
Sincerely,
Megan Eigenrauch, 5/6 Principal
Sam Paulsen, 7/8 Principal

DPM News
After School Building Hours
We’d like to remind all DPM families that students who stay after school must be in a supervised location for a club, activity, sport, or by appointment with a teacher. Extracurricular activities are listed on the DPM website or you can view the list here. The Math Resource Center (MRC) is open after school Tuesday through Thursday (and mornings Mondays-Friday) specifically for math support; students can RSVP through Schoology. If your child is not picked up by 3:45 pm we will ask them to contact home and then attend one of our various clubs that are available to all students.
5th grade Recess
District 67 has a general guideline that students will go outside if the temperature is 15°F or higher. However, we also take other factors into account (wind chill, frostbite index, sunshine) in making the daily determination. If the sun is shining and the wind speed is low, we may send students out when the air temperature is slightly below 15°F. Please remind your child to dress appropriately for recess. All 5th graders will be outside for their extra recess if the weather permits.
FastBridge Screener
We will be collecting the mySAEBRS: Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener and FastBridge math/ELA screeners on January 11-12th. The Math and ELA data will help determine areas of additional support needs for students. The mySAEBRS assessment data will be used to continue to assess the overall health of the SEL instruction we provide and proactively identify students’ social or emotional needs. Follow up communication will be provided for student ratings that are considered at-risk.
Theater Fun Day @ Lake Forest High School
Any 7th or 8th grader interested in theater at Lake Forest High School is welcome to join LFHS theater teachers, directors, and students on Saturday, January 21 (9AM-12PM) for a taste of LFHS theater! Middle Schoolers will observe a play rehearsal, lend a hand with our tech (stage) crew, get a sense of theater classes at LFHS, in addition to touring our theater spaces.
We will meet at LFHS in the Raymond Moore Auditorium (RMA) Lobby at 9AM. Students should wear comfy clothes that allow for movement and that they don't mind getting dirty (since they'll be working with the tech crew). We'll end our day with lunch. Students should be picked up from the RMA lobby at 12:00 pm. This event is free to students. If your 7th or 8th grader would like to join us, please complete this form. SPACE IS LIMITED. RSVP as soon as possible to secure your spot! If you have questions, contact Sara Dreiling (LFHS Theater & English teacher) at sdreiling@lfschools.net.
