It Ain't Easy Bein' CHEESE-y!
Each month, MMS will focus some Homeroom activities on our CHEESE-y behavioral expectations. The theme for the month of October is CHARACTER.
National Unity Day is October 18 and ties in well with our themes of Character & Empathy. MMS students will review the differences between rude, mean, and bullying behaviors. Additionally, students will be discussing ways to be an ally and upstander to mean and bullying behaviors.
We also have school staff and Career Day presenters that are reading short stories that focus on these behaviors to discuss how students can use these to positively impact themselves and others at school and in the community, including the workplace.
Below is a new behavioral reflection form that we are using with students who are demonstrating behaviors that do not meet our CHEESE-y expectations.
Hidden in Plain Sight Exhibit
This is brought to MMS by the Better Broadhead organization and will be set up during our October 12th Parent Teacher Conference night.
This exhibit simulates a teenager’s bedroom and will contain several items that may indicate a teen is using alcohol, tobacco or other drugs or is engaging in behavior that could lead to such use. Some things are obvious, some are well-hidden, and some are sitting in plain sight.
Parents/guardians, please stop by the exhibit that will be set up in a classroom on the 1st floor of MMS.
Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
Students should not be dropped off on 13th Street (clocktower side) or 16th Avenue (East side of MMS). There is a designated car drop off on the South end of 15th Avenue (West side of MMS). This is set up to avoid vehicular congestion and students crossing in the middle of the streets.
Please encourage students to use the crosswalks when crossing the street before and after school.
Students should walk bicycles when on the sidewalks.
The playground before school is unsupervised until 7:35a. Please consider not having your student arrive until adult supervision is in place.
