Need to know
Grade 8 Graduation - UPDATED TIME: On June 10, one graduation ceremony will be held for all Grade 8 classes in their “bubbles” under the tent in the Guzzo Family Playground (west courtyard) at SHS. See this letter for more details about this change. Students are asked to arrive at 1:30pm for class photos. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and finish around 3:15 p.m. Only graduating students may attend these ceremonies in person. Parents and families are invited to watch the live streamed and recorded versions of the ceremonies. Students are asked to wear any (short or long) dress pants and shirts; ties and blazers are optional. SHS uniform pieces are not required. Please look sharp! We will provide a link and invitation to families via email next week.

Phys Ed Selection for Students entering Grades 7&8 in September 2021 will take place this month. Students can expect an email soon with an options selection form.
Grade 7&8 Laptop Return: NEW CHANGE SINCE JUNE 1 - Grade 7 students must also return their laptops on Wednesday, June 9 after their ERC Closing Reflection. All Grade 8 students must return their laptops and chargers by Wednesday, June 9. Technicians will collect the laptops and chargers from students in their exam rooms that day. Please see the attached letter from Mr. Trudeau, Director of Technology, for more information regarding laptop requirements for Senior School.
Selwyn House students and staff have been wearing orange shirts all week in recognition of the Kamloops residential school tragedy. Donations to a residential school survivors society can be made here.
Argyle Shop/School Uniform Announcement: The regular SHS school uniform will be in effect for Grade 7&8 students in September. We strongly encourage returning parents to shop on our online store. If required, starting next week, Argyle Shop appointments can be booked for dates in July using the link on the Argyle Shop webpage. Email Irina should you have any questions. Please note: The Argyle Shop will be closed the first two weeks of August and we’ll be unable to process orders during this time. New parents have been contacted separately to set up appointments.
Save the Date – End of Summer Gryphon Sale is planned for Monday, August 16, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Rossy Agora. Uniform donations can currently be dropped off anytime in the bins located just inside the front doors of the school and are always very much appreciated.
MS Exams
Middle School Exam Schedule: MS Exams will be held on three days, June 7-9, with Grade 7’s writing each morning from 9- 11am and Grade 8’s writing from 1-3pm each afternoon. View the MS Exam Schedule HERE. Students may only arrive 10 min before each exam and will be dismissed after the exam is finished. No lunch is served on exam days.
Exam/Assessment Prep Sheets: In addition to the MS exams, class assessments will take place during the last few weeks of school. Students can use the Assessment Prep Sheets made by each teacher to begin preparing for all subjects being assessed:

English Summer Reading Selections for students entering Grade 7 and Grade 8 are now posted online HERE. There are no French Summer Reading Assignments for students entering Grade 7&8 in September 2021.
School supplies for students entering Grade 7 & Grade 8 may be purchased online through Editions Vaudreuil Inc. Please note that if you choose to use this service, a percentage of the total sales will be donated to Westmount Park School. MS Supply lists and Editions Vaudreil’s Service Scolaire order forms can be found online here.
The summer reading selection for Grade 8 students entering Grade 9 in September 2021 is The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline. Students should read the accompanying Study Guide and fully answer the questions contained in the guide. The questions will be due on the first day back to school. Classroom teachers will be spending the first weeks of the school year discussing the summer reading book and the first major written assignment will be based on their summer reading text.
